what a rude little upstart this seller:

QuoteNOTE!!!! Please don't ask me to get you a shipping quote. I've given you the details and the weight, and you know where it's coming from. Especially you overseas guys - get your OWN QUOTES! How the hell am I supposed to know what the cheapest shipper is to France? If you ask me for a quote, I will send you a rude reply and post your question at the bottom of the auction, and you will feel great embarrasment!

I think freshly sanded mahogany is lighter. I remember taking my first postal victim headstock crack to my luthier - I wasn't sure it had happened in the post - he confirmed it had. In an old break the mahogany darkens.

I suspect this will darken if left untreated - no idea om a timescale for that though.

Oh, my.  Not only is it within driving distance for me, but I have an old Gibson pickup and a Schaller bridge that would be perfect for this.  The hard part is convincing my wife that there's a good reason to move on that.

somehow I don't like EB-1 basses.

I would prefer a Hofner.

You're not alone. $1500 starting bid on a project bass carcass with no serial number and no history? Fuhggedaboudit!

I think you should still ask for a shipping quote... just in case.
