The worst of the Eighties' music scene: The haircuts.

Well with myself having had my childhood in the eighties I was a regular viewer of chartshows (MTV didn't exist in Europe until later and even when it came around, not everybody had sattelite back then) and only now when I re-watch those musicvideo's does it occur to me what downright silly hairdo's those bands I used to listen to as a kid had.

So I figure it to be fun to put the most memorable cuts forwards.

Desireless - "Voyage Voyage"

The singer has a do that reminds me of one of these...

Kajagoogoo - "Too Shy"

Okay, the eighties were the time of the Mullet and this singer wears a two-tone mullet, but the real kicker is what's on the Bassplayer's head: platinum blonde afro with little braids hanging below, his do looks like a nuclear explosion.

Sigue Sigue Sputnik - "Love Missile" F1-11(live)

Don't ask just watch

Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Show me your soul"

Multiple ponytails for Anthony Kiedis in this one but also pay attention to Flea's platinum mohawk...

Human League - "Open your Heart"

Just look at leadsinger Phil Oakley, you can't possibly miss it, by far the wierdest haircut of all time...

The first one looks like Beaker of the Muppets.

I'm glad everyone has normal hair styles today, like the Leningrad Cowboys.  ;)

The clips are technically late-70s, but these early new-wavers were always sportin some gnarly dews:

Tonight I was cruisin' down Holywood Blvd. & saw 2 old guys who were diehard longhairs from the 80s with studded leather jackets & tight black jeans...but now they're bald on top. Man, they looked goofy.
So I shouted:

HAIR BANDS FOREVER!

...& the chicks walkin' behind 'em busted up laughing. Ha haahaaaa
