My 98 LP bass "custom"

It turned out even better than I imagined it would. The Fralin pups are great and I mean great! I did a little comparison to my 60s TB bass with the SD custom pup, and they both really sound very much alike. Booming lows with just the neck pup and lots of mids and high growl with both or the neck pup only. I have SIT rounds on it and they are a little softer sounding than normal rounds, but I like that it doesn't sound like a piano!

That is just beautiful. The cherry/vanilla theme worked out well.

That's good to know about the Fralins. I don't remember reading any other performance reports on them.

That one turned out real nice! I like the pickguard shape. Kind of a Gibson S-1 vibe to it. Also good to know about the Fralins being that great sounding. Anyone know if the magnets are bar type or pole pieces like the Rio Grande Pitbulls?

Good question doom, I'm not sure about the internal on the Fralin Bassbuckers. I'll bet he'd answer an email if you asked him. I hear he's a pretty good guy. Roy from RS Guitars might know also since he's the one who sells them.

I've used Pitbulls before too and they are nice pups for the money. I never had a problem with their pole spacing and I used them on Fender and Gibson style spacing.

The pickguard is a stroke of genius. One thing I don't like about LP basses is how the pickups are laid out - I "want" to see a pickup against the neck, like a LP guitar. The Jr style pickguard solves this visual problem very elegantly - because a Jr doesn't have a neck pickup. I think Gibson should adopt this solution.

Again, I'd love to but how can I do that with my simple PC? Is there a way to go into the sound card directly? Do I need special software? I've got to learn to do this someday!

Buy a Mac, a M-Audio interface for USB and plug your bass in just push record. It's as dumb as dirt to record in Garage Band.
