I think the really different vocal melody kills any plagiarism accusation. That's not to say that some really idiosyncratic chord progressions cannot sometimes be strongly indicative of a song, but this is not Alan Parsons vs Lady Antebellum or Albert Hammond/Hollies vs Radiohead.







Or Zep's Stairway vs. Spirit's/Randy California's Taurus for that matter. I thought that the intro parts were uncannily close and shared essentially the same atmosphere.

Radiohead had to give up a third*** of their royalties from Creep too, but then it's not often in popular music that a major chord is followed by another major (not minor!) chord four half-steps up.

*** Given how much joy Albert Hammond and The Hollies have on one hand bestowed upon the world, and how much misery Radiohead have unloaded on the other, that sounds about right!

I never heard that about Radiohead!  I'm not really a fan of theirs in general, but I love the album The Bends.

From when I worked at Tower Records, I got a gatefold 2x12" single of Creep with some added radio sessions. They weren't well known yet and I only took it because it was vinyl, but they all signed it so it has to be worth something.  But I like it, so I don't feel the need to look into its value.
