So out of boredom I took some parts that were laying around the house, made a relic J as a gift for my son and a P for myself. MJT alder body, Allparts neck, Tonerider pickup, and of course my favorite guard - 5-ply b/w/b/w/b. When Lavaguards resume production I might get a tort.

Very nice! A good range of parts to have knocking around at home. I quite like the black 'guard on that.

Nice, but please leave the guard as is.

Oh, heck yeah man! Looks fantastic as-is.

Update: the Allparts neck was really thick and I didn't like the satin finish, so I have replaced it with an $80 J neck from China complete with gloss finish and counterfeit logo. This is what it looks like now.

I highly approve of the pickup cover.  Looks fab.

That block neck looks killer! How's it play?

It's thin, straight and can be set up for low action, but when compared to a real 70s Fender neck - not as comfortable. Maybe it's the sharper fretboard edges and flatter radius.

They drilled the string post holes a little north than Fender, so the G string tuner's base plate corner sticks out a bit. No biggie. The nut needed some work - it was waaaaay too high. again, no biggie.
