The build is impressive and original, but he has no idea how to play a fretless electric bass. He is such an ingrained acoustic double bass player that he sounds out of time on an electric mostly, because he is used to the sluggish response of an acoustic bass and has adjusted his playing accordingly. Same thing for his acoustic-bass-derived playing technique of using two digits pressed together as one with his playing hand.

I think it was Sting who once said that playing too much acoustic bass (we're not talking acoustic bass guitar) can sooner or later get in the way of your electric bass technique if you don't watch out.
