Can you remove the LP pup from an SG reissue bass?

Has anyone taken the Mudbucker TB pup apart and have pictures of it.

Also what is the bridge mini humbucker?

How does it compare with the old one?

Daniel posted a pic of the neck pickup innards at DP3, I hope he still has it.

These $699 Sg basses are killing me!

My project EB-0 while nice is still not right. The action will not go low enough and the previous person did not mount the neck with much of an angle and the bridges slightly out of line.

The bright spot is the sound & guts - it's a great sounding bass- I thought about using an SG bass as a body doner.

I would hope you can get really low action on the SG's?

Still I dont need another bass, nor really have the cash for it. I ruled out the Bach bitrd as I have a real one. The Bach bird I would have to heavily modify.

Still my EB-0 I know could be a much better bass with a new body & Neck

What $699 SG basses? I know the fadeds were dropped to $799 at MF but is someone selling them for less?

Dave, I've seen them @$699 a couple times on Ebay.....Very hard to resist at that price.

In fact there are 2, a Flametop and a Natural right now......

And if you ask me the Supremes with their maple top and added bite are even a bit more versatile than the all maho regular line. I know you don't like flamed maple, but on the SG Supreme it does look nice and different. I have dozens of SG shape basses hanging in my office, all colors, but people always mention the satin fin Supreme (and of course the gunshot EB-0L!).

PS: I also have a flamed maple Monkey bass by now and I must say it does sound better than my Blue Meanie one. It can't be the thinner fin of course.  :-X :-[ :-X

Philosophical question. With a new body and neck is it still an EB0?

Got pics of an early 70's one I sold but not of the RI.

thanks as well, so it appears it is not a normal sized pickup that could be used in a different cover.

So how can they claim it;s a TB plus pup?

And I can get really low action on my SG RI. The neck angle seems to be more than adequate since I have fairly low action and the bridge is adjusted quite high compared to my other 3 point bridge Gibsons. If I did'nt have this ebony one I'd definitely would consider the faded since I like my faded LP Standard geetar.....or most probably the whitey (with ebony fretboard? which tend to boost my saliva production slightly).

Me thinks they are LP Bass pickups (also called TB Plus).

Dave W

Because it's apparently the same two coils as a TB pickup. But the coils are widely separated (obviously) which means the pickup senses a wider portion of the string and that means it won't sound the same as a "regular" TB Plus.
