Ok with it , I recognize the Gibson style teardrop burst , but I think the traditional LP style burst works much better for that body shape.
I certainly wouldn’t describe it as horrible. And I kinda like the spray over gold! So I’m neither offended nor gobsmacked by it.

… how’s that for a polite Canadian response ?

That was such a lovely, even-handed analysis,
Stewart, well-done, and you may sit down now!

SG Bass Natural Satin, 4 knobs. $1,899

The mysterious ways of Gibson.
Why couldn't they just chose the obvious pattern for the four knobs? It's not like they never did that before...

I assumed a lot of these started out as factory screw-ups.

They used the 4 existing holes (VVT+jack) and drilled a 4th hole.

It's natural finish, I don't see what screw up they could have hidden. Usually screw-ups get a full refinish and sometimes a custom guard to hide routs that would show witness lines in the future had the guitar been refinished.

Yeah I know. But why so awfully close to the original middle knob?
A normal diamond shaped pattern would have made much more sense.

They would have to plug an existing hole for that. Apparently too much trouble for them. And with a natural finish it'd be impossible to hide.

It's kind of in the split diamond shape.  Probably not intentional, though.

Ah yes, I had the original postion of the middle knob wrong. I thought it was the one closest to the edge. But it is the pther one.
Probably got confused because they swapped the output and the third knob.

Nice piece of furniture, very woody. Great for a hunting lodge. American Gothic.

It has a certain Guild JS II Bass vibe.

Where are the oak leaves?

I was thinking it needed more foliage.

The four-knob SG bass would open up options for a simple two-band EQ if you were thus inclined. I'm sworn off active basses for life!
