Bought another upright yesterday - a ~1950 German-made, fully carved bass that belonged to Peter Marck, Principal Bass at the Israeli Philharmonic. Not his main bass, obviously, but still nice. It needs new strings and endpin, otherwise it's in great condition and set up very well. With Spiro's it will be perfect for jazz. I'm really happy.

Ilan is now turning all "serious music" on us, while I'm sitting here in the office typing this and Chaim plays his idiosyncratic bass runs to Detroit Rock City blaring in the background.

Youth is fleeting, immaturity can last forever!

We need pics, Ilan.

As soon as I get it back from the violin maker who does some minor tweaks and cleaning. It looks pretty similar to our 1960 Reghin bass. This is a pic the former owner took:

I was actually thinking about making an offer on this bass but now that I've splurged my bass money elsewhere the EB-0 will wait.

Lovely upright ! I've been playing an old German plywood thumper for about twenty something years . It's a joy to play , but a chore to lug around .
