Getting back to Leon Wilkeson for a moment.  He was raised in Florida, but had been born in Rhode Island.  Since Berry Oakley was from Illinois, that means, of course, you had the bassists from the two best known Southern rock bands who were actually Northerners.  This probably has more relevance for Oakley since he spent more time than Wilkeson had in the North.

I think it would have.  Blue is a great color anyway, although, of course you don't see blue basses very much.  Still, I personally like it for basses.  I only have one blue bass, though--Dano Hodad bass, metallic blue.

It bothers me that Trogly is such a bad guitarist and musician, given that his job is to... I dunno. Film himself opening boxes and spreading Wikipedia-tier information on guitars. And that adenoidal wee voice. I thought he was twelve or so. Nothing he does is good, worthwhile or useful. Why is he big on YouTube?

I went back to the video.  One of the French guys who had participated in the project had recently posted.  Someone had expressed doubts about the Leon Wilkeson bass.  The French graphic artist said he was 100% sure Leon had purchased one exactly like that toward the end of his life.  It's authentic, just maybe not a bass people associate Leon Wilkeson with.  Just like people don't associate the EB-1 with Chas Chandler that he bought shortly before he died.

What made me start watching his videos is that he likes the least-likeable Gibson era. I have a soft spot for the less conformist. There are enough 59 burst lovers in the world, give me a Sonex guy from time to time. I also like that old hippie Wishnevsky and even read his book.

The thought of a book on Wish is enough to give one twinges . I've only seen one Wishbass in the flesh , and it did not disappoint . It truly was as awful as I had expected .
And my hopes were low .

That metal extension had nothing to do with his arm or the air crash, he just liked to play his basses in a headstock almost vertical position à la Bill Wyman (= headstock close to your head, strap attached above your breastbone) - something a TBird is not really designed for, it balances best horizontally.





He preferred that position already as a young man in 1973 - with any bass.
