That's a $300 discount compared to standard SG basses.

Plus you get the second (mock)mudbucker. And a Babicz bridge.

Several (although not all) places have now increased the price of a new SG Standard bass to $1,799.00.  I just recently noticed this.

Frankly, for that price it is kind of restricted in usage. There are lots of musical environments where a short scale meets its natural limits.

Mock mudbucker?

You can replace the pickups with two real muds. This will also restore the balance in the universe that was disturbed by my de-mudified EB-0L ;)

I do have a spare Seth Lover-designed Tele Bass MkII "Wide Range Humbucker", is it a viable candidate for a bridge pickup on a Gibson? I mean, with the Fender logo embossed on the cover?

Grog

That could have faired well in my "Land of Misfit Toys", after replacing the pickups with real Mudbuckers.........

I see the creation of a pawn shop monstrosity happening before my eyes.

And I thought you were a real Mensch, Ilan, kind to anyone, including Gibson basses ...

I recently built this with two Artec Mudbuckers. Works really well.

As for the price, it may even be worse than it looks, too, depending on where you live.  In some states something listing for that price will have a sales tax of roughly $150+.  I'm glad I bought most of my basses before 2018 when the Supreme Court gave states the right to have an online sales tax.  You still may somehow be able to find a great deal like I did on my SG bass in 2020.  But I don't think anyone can get out of a sales tax, unfortunately.

Hey, you were the one who suggested routing this lovely vintage bass for middle and bridge pickups...

But not with Fender pups, Himmel! Those things just aren't kosher, tu comprends?
