Fender brought out a lot of news today. I know there will be a Fender Meteora bass, with two double J's for around 1200 euros. Haven't got that news in yet, but I saw the pics. Fender also launches a reissue JV series (I kid you not) with Fender logo. No basses yet.

Most for now is Squier and some new colours for the Jackenbacker (Jackson with Rickloos) and for the small Gretsch jr. bass. The pink one is nice!

There are a lot of 40 year ann Squier models. P's and J's with block inlays (P too) and gold hardware and gold anodized guards. Active 4 and 5 string Squier P's and J's with HH or PH and black hardware.

I will soon have an article online with pics.

It's been a little weird waiting for NAMM news without a NAMM .
Thank you !

I've heard some good things about those little Gretsches . They're said to be good players , and dirt cheap . Funny , because I've read mixed reviews on their more expensive offerings .

There is a long Gretsch thread on TB.  The 2220 Electromatic Junior Jets have many fans there, including me. They come in five colors (with the new Shell Pink) and are a nice playing short scale bass.

The earlier single pickup 2202 Junior Jets had a pickup designed (not built) by TV Jones and it's a killer. The finish was only black to grey fade. I have one of those pickups in my Squier Bronco and it has a powerful sound.  I don't know what pickup they're using in the Junior Jet series now, but people seem to like them.

Here's a 2202 in its case.

And the 2220 was the base for the Cougar Bass, which my family had customized for me.  The gent doing the work swapped the pickups for ThunderTrons and added pickup switching and fader control.

There's also some things coming from Japan again.

Yes, I stated that in my first post. No basses yet.

I like the Gretsch, I had a one pickup too! Very nice bass, but other basses got more playing time, so I sold it. I already bought a pink Bronco, so enough for now!

Squier 40th Anniversary Gold Edition and Vintage Edition, $599.

As far as color, I like the off-white Jazz with the tan pickguard.  Not so much for the other combos.  Blue with tan really does nothing for me.

A pic of a Meteora bass was leaked briefly in error.

Interesting sunburst on this one. Looks like an amateur hand-rubbed burst.

None of these basses are doing much for me I'm afraid. A cynical trawl of the parts bins of yesteryear.

I like odd shapes and the Meteora. Dealers got a mail with the Meteora, prices and specs, but press didn't.

I love deep dark bursts but this one is ridiculous.
