I have the trans red 20th anniversary bass, it is the best finish in my opinion.

I agree, but - alas! - no collecting for fins here.

I was tempted. That red looked gorgeous.

I had a gold top Casady, and it's one of the few basses I sometimes regret selling.  Great sound from that bass.

I have a gold one too, but I find gold as a guitar fin aw-ful. Worst fin ever. I never understood the rage for Goldtops - butt-ugly and then some!

And that's the only color available in the left-handed JC bass.

Doesn't the left hand affliction genetically always go together with colorblindness so you don't even notice?

 Was he even a lefty? It would somehow fit. I have his three solo albums.

That 'Legend' devil make-up/prosthetics combo he wore is for me by far the best depiction of the classic Beelzebub/Satan look in full hellish regalia ever presented in a movie.

Charles Dance in Childhood's End is a close second, a less vibrant, more philosophical-thoughtful devil.

Gloriously red like that 20th Anniv. JC Sig! To be back on track.

Personally I still think the Alpine White LE was the best looking JCS.

Yeah, that's the one I like best as well. Saw one at GC a few years ago and fell in love with it.

He looks more like a Hell version of The Odd Couple.  Judging his roommate for being too messy.

Jawohl, gretschy in a nice way.

Just what I was thinking.  The White Falcon is showy but gorgeous...

The thing with Gretsch is, they always overdo things, truly barockque. The Epi strikes more of a balance.

I like the original gold and sunburst.

White: Too white and yes, leave that to Gretsch. OR Hagstrom.
Black: I dislike black basses in general (*) cos they look too metal and with the JCS it just doesn't work. You don't see the curves. It looks cheap.
Royal Blue: All blue, back and sides too, and mother of toilet seat bindings. Not very pretty. And the black pickup looks cheap.
Red: I love red ES335's, I love the Guild Starfire in red, but I saw this one and I just didn't like it.

Faded Pelham Blue and the new red, both with dark wooden sides: perfect!

(*) I do like some black basses like a bound Rickenbacker. And in case of a Fender, maybe with tort plate and maple board.

Black tends to be a shape and surface depth killer - it equalizes everything. A light binding counteracts that effect somewhat.
