This was taken a few miles from my alma mater - Mark will appreciate it.

This is a Palouse country traffic jam; traffic bows to harvest; patience is called for.

And yes, they harvest wheat on those hills in the background, using specially modified self-leveling combines.  They feed the world, folks.



Here's the real deal in full operation a few years back. It's one of only two places in the world where harvest takes place on hills up to 45 degree angles.



This is about as steep as it gets. The cab and the header can be leveled separately to keep the machine oriented while harvesting on these hills, which produce 100 bushels per acre.
