I saw this listing linked from Facebook. Looked over everything including the Custom Shop "shop floor traveler" sheet photo. Can somebody explain to me how this is a "1955 NOS Precision Bass" ??

Only explanation I can come up with is that someone smoked, inhaled or snorted something funny.

At first I thought that the "shop floor traveler" sheet might be from a different bass. Then I looked closely, and the alumatone pickups are described, as well as the reverse headstock. It makes no sense. The print date on the sheet is from early this year, it makes you wonder if someone screwed up this year by calling it a Precision. The bass sure seems legit, just nothing like a Precision.

It would have to have been nitro or naphtha.

I suspect that you're right about the description.

I do like the bass though. Something else!

I actually like it too.  The geometry almost looks like they fattened a tear drop and added horns.

Is this a shorty? Sure looks like it from the photos?

Looks like a shorty. 20 frets.

And that's no Precision; the guy naming it must have been deranged.  I can't see any characteristic of it that's P-like. Neck, pickups, body style, scale - all non-P.

It's got to be a mistake by the person who created that sheet this year.

I like the bass, too. Not at $7500 though. You could commission one like it from a custom builder for a lot less.

This year I saw some strange Fenders at the Fender Custom Shop Event. I will paste some pics later. With Bi-Sonic etc.

One explanation: maybe you can chose between J, P, Mustang, Cororondad en Starcaster in the Fender system and no option for 'other'. Maybe the builder just clicked on P and went on.
