I never thought one way or the other about the aesthetics of LP basses ... I never even saw them for a long time!   They're just not very common really.
I think the first time I ever noticed one at all was Me'shell back in the 90s, and I'd been playing bass about 13 years by then.
I remember thinking it looked really cool and unusual on her.
I think I noticed Tom Hamilton playing one in an Aerosmith video from back then too, possibly "Living on the Edge?"

But ... when I saw that yellow-burst LPB1 that popped up on ebay a decade or so ago ... it was love at first sight. No idea why, I just instantly loved the look of it, and that was during that blissful period after I got a "real job" and before I had kids, when I could buy a bass on impulse!  I'd never held one or heard one, but ... well, you've all heard me rave about it before :)
Basses: Gibson lpb-1, Gibson dc jr tribute, Greco thunderbird, Danelectro dc, Ibanez blazer.  Amps: genz benz shuttle 6.0, EA CXL110, EA CXL112, Spark 40.  Guitars: Danelectro 59XT, rebuilt cheap LP copy

Enough talk, who's going to pull the trigger?

The listing now says "2 people have this in their carts." Anyone here?

Not me. I still need to make sure I can pay off the guy designing a new replacement for the evertilt on my EB-1. By the way, he says he should be making forward progress on it pretty soon. Hopefully it's worth the wait.
Contrary to what James Bond says, a good Gibson should be stirred, not shaken.

Why not just install a bar bridge?

I have a 12 cent solution for that.
I placed a small dome head screw under the bridge. In the middle, on the front side.
So it has basicly become a three point bridge. Except it's barely visible.

That's a practical solution for keeping things original. I'd still prefer a new bridge though. One with better materials and no Delrin plastic saddles that end up having progressively deeper grooves.

2x EMG-HB.  Active P bass split rails in a guitar humbucker sized package - http://www.emgpickups.com/hb.html

Wish I knew about those before trading in the Epi LP I had. I might go with emgs on my 92' LPB-1. Anyone know if their T-bird shaped pickups would be drop ins for that Les Paul model?

Should be no problem on an LPB-1. The 2 and 3 would need the EMG HB.

The Evertilt on my '72 EB-4L (which I believe is the last year it was used) had metal saddles. I used my EB-1 the other day. No grooves were ever cut in the Delrin saddles on that one...............
There's no such thing as gravity, the earth just sucks!!

That's what my 72 EB4L had too.Do you need Delrin rin to play the Doo ron ron?

A vintage bar bridge? Weren't they made to be seated on offset posts?
I'm surprised there are delrin saddles that aren't notched out there. Seems like string tension alone would wear them down over time.
Now the only question is, which flavor of emg to pick for the lp special.

The posts are not offset for the old bar bridge, the "saddle" is slanted.  The post spacing is just slightly different that the Tilt-O-Matic though unfortunately.

Neither of my nylon saddle bridges have/had slotted saddles.

The posts are slightly offset on every bar bridge I've seen.

Yes, and they are the superior bridge  One day I'm putting a bar bridge on my P and my Ricky...

Ok, so you are having a bridge custom made to replace the tilt bridge without modifying posts?
Sounds expensive. But most fun things in life are!

My Les Paul Bass has the nylon saddles. It is almost 50 years old and does not show any sign of wear on the saddles. They are not notched.
This bass has been played very intensively. It is covered in battle scars. But not the saddles.
