1969 Blonde EB2D

Norman's Rare Guitars have a clean 1969 Blonde EB2D. Looking at the grain pattern I'm pretty sure it's the same bass Rumbleseat Music sold two years ago for $5,200. What do you think?

Why is the knob placement so weird on 2-pickup EB2Ds? Why didn't they just use the ES-355 pattern?

My guess is they pushed the top row back a little because the bridge is further back compared to a 335 and you don't want to accidentally flip the switch while playing.

I didn't really notice before how different an EB-2D was compared to an EB-2.............. More so than the EB-2D & ES-335.

Not that different. They used all the EB2 holes and added three more for two pots and a switch. Same with the 335. Just more holes not different ones from the EB2.

He's not a bass player, he admits it every Thursday, and that's a problem. He makes guitars sound their best and show their real character, especially Tele's and ES330's which are his favorites (Keith factor), and with basses it's the opposite - he sometimes makes great vintage basses sound like crap. Fretted Americana had Phil X demo guitars only, and a real bass player demo basses - he's not a character like Phil X but you get to hear the bass.

Fretted Americana has some bass videos without Phil X indeed and they all seem to be Gibson or old Epiphones. Nice to see.

Talking about Phil X. I know him for years and I interviewed him. Great guy. Some weeks ago I was at a guitar event. Normally I am at bass events and I'm always too shy to go on stage with the jams. Some reasons: I'm not that secure of my bass playing, some guys know all the classics and cos I only played original songs I don't know any cover except for The Weight by The Band, haha. And there are always too many great bass players. This time it was very guitar heavy, so hardly any bassists. I grabbed my chance - after three red wines - to jump on stage and play a bit with Phil X. And Ace from Skunk Anansie, which was very big in Europe. Nice for my resume, haha.
