Well, at least that wasn't stale nostalgia by a group of elderly men that failed to write a decent song.

That Alice Cooper Group song sounds like Vincent asked ChatGPT to write some lyrics with his favorite words snake and poison in it.
And there's zero excitement in that song. Nothing happens; no  great riff or melody. No blistering solo, no unexpected bridge. No imagination. Nothing. It just ripples on.

The chorus (ya ya ya ya ya ya) says it all.

The David Thomas Death Protocols

Members of the Ubu Projex bands shall be informed three months after the event, not before, and will at that time receive an instruction pack. No one else is to be informed, including record company and agents.

David will continue to 'answer' his email and all social media will be regularly updated - if anything there should be an uptick in posting frequency. All interviews shall be by email - since the questions rarely change there is a sufficient backlog of answers that can be cut and pasted.

A Pere Ubu album shall be produced. Keith Moline is to be in charge of assembling lyrics and vocal performances from pre-existing material. A tour will be booked to coincide with the album release. At an appropriate point a band photo with David's replacement shall be released.

Someone is bound to ask, 'Where's David?'

The response shall be 'Oh, he died two years ago.'

Q. 'What happened?'

A. His body stopped working.

Q. 'What was the cause?'

A. 'Death.'

Q. Why didn't you say anything?'

A. 'It's none of your damn business.'

What a quirky guy.  David shook my hand once, out of appreciation, because I'd traveled from NYC up to Boston, in a heavy snow storm, just to see RFTT.  It was worth it.

Believe it or not, Elton actually likes dark and heavy music. He's a fan of these guys here:

The HU are great.  We saw them open for Iron Maiden in Nov.

Some aberrations aside, I really like Elton + Bernie Taupin. It was always good pop music with some heft.

Jon Lord (who did not rate himself as a strong rock piano player, the Hammond being his home instrument unless he played classical music) once said that he both liked Elton's piano playing and his songwriting. Thus endorsed,



he must be good.    Elton (who vice versa never thought himself a strong organist and saw the piano as his home instrument) has returned the compliment in a more recent feature he wrote for The Guardian on influential Brit keyboard players.
