Just because I like the team behind the brand, I did some exclusive interviews with John Stirrat of Wilco and Michael League of Snarky Puppy, about Höfner basses (and more). A third interview, with Paul Weller's bass player (and a bit of Paul) will be published online later. Hope you like it! My magazine is Dutch only, but this is in English, of course.

Nicely done, Chris. I remember reading a story about John Stirratt using his Club about 20 years ago. Good to see him getting mentioned again.

Nice one again, Chris. But don't let your friends at Warwick see you getting too comfortable with Höfners.  ;)

Fred Wilfer of Framus, and father of Warwick owner HP, and Höfner worked close together in the past. Ever compared the headstocks?

After the war all German instrument builders would disappear behind the iron curtain. Fred Wilfer was one of the guys organising a move to the western part of Germany. With American army trucks a lot of amchinery, tools and wood was transported, so Höfner and zome more companies could start again in the American zone. Fred started Framus there. So Fred Wilfer helped Warwick a lot. And you can see a lot of similarities between old Höfner and old Framus instruments.

All those brands come from the area of Markneukirchen. Even mr. Martin of Martin guitars was born in that town.

Fred's son Hans-Peter later started Warwick and bought back the Framus name,

Now I have! Definitely more Höfners than Wankwicks. I'm sure Chris will say it's because of his position as editor.  :)

It's because my position as editor  ;)

I think I have four Warwicks and six Höfners.

Dave W

I didn't realize you had that many.
