They'll go to great lengths to avoid the use of the word SUNBURST

One-off LH 330 "Amber Montezuma Brown/BT". Oh come on. It's just 3-tone sunburst. Now go spray a bass like that.

Not a bad looking guitar, but odd name for the color. Why not Autumn FireGlo or something? R tailpiece is a little awkward on a lefty. The player can read it I guess.  ;D

Please keep your eyes open for my stolen 1973 Burgundyglo Rickenbacker 4001 Serial # MD1582. It was stolen in November of 2006. Reward for its return. Thx!

Next thing you know, they'll be calling black Jetglo.  :mrgreen:

Too much red in that burst.

It probably looks much better in the paint.  Bursts can be difficult to make look correct in a photograph.

Solution = Reverse "R"

Better solution: replace the R tailpiece with the old style that doesn't suddenly shatter as the R tailpieces sometimes do.

ilan

If the R tailpiece didn't shatter and the 4000 series tailpiece didn't tail-lift and the bridge was adjustable without removing the strings, if the volume pots were on top and the tone pots at the bottom as logic dictates, if the pickguard was vinyl and didn't crack when you raise the neck pickup, if pre-85 rods didn't crack the neck when adjusted like any other bass on the planet, if the Grovers didn't fall apart, if the bridge pickup could be raised or lowered without affecting the handrest height, if the fretboard wasn't so heavily lacquered, if the neck pickup's volume didn't drop when you bend a string, if the bridge allowed you to palm-mute, if the manufacturer offered more than 4 clichéd finishes or, dare I say, a custom shop - then what would we love so much about these basses?

Dave W

All true.  :mrgreen:  But back in the old days at RRF, I used to smile every time an exploding R tailpiece was reported b/c JH was so insistent that it was a myth.

Ilan, that's why I have a Carlo Robelli. Matsumoku made in 70's. Still stock. I know, I know. But they were craftsmen/fanatics down to the last detail and the only corner cut was bolt on.

Exactly. That Univox is a Matsumoku product and is very well made.
