What is a bridge stud?  Do you mean the set screws in a Fender-style bridge?  if so, clear nail polish works fine.

Yes, a little glue should do it.  Make sure you don't damage the ground wire.  Or you can add a separate tailpiece.

chromium

For bridge studs that have a tendency to lift out of the body (as on some of the 3-points) I usually just pull them out all the way, drip some CA/superglue down the edges of the holes, let it dry, and then press the studs back in snug.

SKATE RAT

Thanx, I figured that would be the best way but wanted to ask anyway

Alanko

I did something like this on my Aria bass, as per my thread on here. I didn't glue the insert that had the ground wire running to it, and used 2-part epoxy on the other three.

OH!  I picked that up from a post following your original, but I had no clue. Thanks.

I do the same as Chromium - pull the stud mount out, paint the inside of the hole with super glue, re-insert the stud in place and tap gently with a rubber hammer to seat it fully.

Doesn't the Ripper allow for strings thru the body? That would surely put an end to bridge posts pulling up.

SKATE RAT

Yes, but then the thread on the strings is past the nut. And I love boomers

Boomers do come in extra long scale.

SKATE RAT

Do they? I've not seen them. I'll look into that

They do. You can tell by the X following the sku number, i.e. M3045X for the 45-105 set instead of just M3045, and the package says "Long Scale +". Guitar Centers in this area stock them or you can order from MF. They should cost about a buck more than the regular set.

SKATE RAT

Thanks, I'm gonna pick up some of those
