I just like the shape and configuration of the Red Special Bass.
Don't mind if it's a derivate of a guitar by a (great) famous player.

I might.  :o   Isn't it a theory of at least one of the more philosophical Outposters that Les Paul basses are less popular then they ought to be because they look too much like guitars? Doesn't take much of a leap to add - "and associated with a guitarist".

My Geddy Jazz Bass is a fantastic instrument, but my Ric and Les Paul still have the edge.
