The only rock guy in the world who played a maple necked Jazz with black blocks was the guy in Foghat, and the classic Foghat Live LP has pics of him with a few of them.  Between that and Fool For the City, you had as good an argument for roundwounds as any.  Then Geddy Lee put his Rick away, and told Fender to make him a Jazz like the one he hardly ever used, and the world got amnesia.

Uhum. Remember the Foghat opening act from the late seventies/early eighties? A Brummie outfit with a gay singer, a Bob Dylan lyric as a band name? They had a bass player who looked (and looks) like Foghat, but wasn't:

First one to guess his name will receive a pair of handcuffs and a bullwhip (no, Fräulein Rommel, you can't participate in the contest).

You, Herr eb2, will meanwhile (to quote one of their songs):

"Fall to your knees and repent if you please!"

Ian Hill was playing that bass the first time I ever saw Judas Priest. Funny how I used to be a big fan, but know don't pay much attention to them at all. I've actually run in to Rob Halford several times around the Valley here. Last time was at a Cracker Barrel for Gods sake!

Nokturnal, I've run out of bullwhips and handcuffs (Fräulein Rommel is in default with her promised deliveries!), so you get this here instead:

The, errrm, "Foghat bassist" and his singular maple board Jazz Bass with black block inlays can be clearly seen - all smiles - at 3.26.

My favorite Judas Priest moment was when Breaking The Law video came on the boob tube one night, and the scene where they were robbing the place and taking Gold Records off the wall was on.  One of the guys who was watching said "Look, some other band lent them gold records to use."

I think the laws of lp photography rule that The Billion Dollar Babies are forever an EB bass band.

Fenderbirds are indeed overdone.

But what isn't these days?
Model One and Schallers?  Ish.

Worldwide sales of Judas Priest albums are currently at something like 65 million. That doesn't make them U2 or REM - luckily -, but they can use their abundance of gold records to smelt gold toilet seats with it. Or golden handcuffs and bullwhip inlays.

Why is it that in this forum it is always my heroes that get picked on?  :-\

I guess Mark owes me one then. Maybe I'll get it after he gets his wedding ring from Chris?

I have the same.

But I think I scored the bare EB0, so this'll have to wait... ...again.
