Alright got a lot more done!
Cut and shaped the body:

I'm gettin excited it's starting to come together!
Sometime this week I'm hoping to make some templates for the neck pocket and pickups.

Thanks kenny! I've got the body blank prepped for some rough cuts tomorrow hopefully!
Maaaaaybe get the neck pocket done this weekend! ...hopefully

Been working on other stuff lately but its slowly coming together!
I bought some chrome tape for my pups:
Before:

After:

Not bad for $5 tape eh?
Alright now I'm off to work on the body blank a bit more.

Ok so I've made some more designing progress...
The one on top is 30" scale 24 frets, one below is 34" scale 20 fret.

As I want a compact bass I think I'm successful...
The left is my build, middle is standard NR Tbird dimensions, one on right is a standard P:

Thanks for the tips everyone!
To Lightyear:
I think it looks a little odd too... Not sure why as if I look at the NR Firebird:

It looks perfectly proportional IMO... I don't know why mine doesn't look right :(

Ok so I stared a build thread on TB too:
http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f57/second-build-infinity-bass-742461/

Nothing new really... For those who don't like clicking links here's how far I am:

I do have a question tho:
I'm using two pieces of wood for the body (like a top and bottom.(
I wanna do some chambering on each price before gluing but how should I go about this?
Chamber each part, glue whole wood then cut the shape?
Or chamber, cut shape, then glue...?
Thanks for the help guys!

Oh wow thanks man! Thats awesome!
PM comin your way

Alright I figured out the shape I want...
The NR Thunderbird!
Here's Mike Watts bird that made me realise this is my fave shape:

Now time for the pathetic begging:
Is there any one on the forum willing to trace their NR Tbird's body onto paper and mail the tracing to me please?
I'll pay shipping of course but it shouldn't be more than $3.
thanks guys!  :)
(I hope I'm allowed to ask this!)

Gibson Basses / Re: New Gibson Basses!

As soon as I saw this thread I couldn't stop drooling... But so far this thread is the only place to have mentioned these new Gibby beauties. I really hope these are real!
Gibson may finally be paying attention to us!

All done!

Now onto the second build! ...this time with the right tools!
#13
I finished my prototype for my Offenderbird:

And now I've moved onto the Offenderbird II...maybe  ???
I ordered some EMGs and all the hardware... Including an Allparts Danelectro neck (a 24 fret 30" scale neck blank essentially!)

But in my endless thoughts I came up with another idea: my own hollowbody:

What do you guys think? I'm liking the shape but I'd like some opinions not as biased as mine. Lol
#14
For my first build I'm gonna use an Allparts neck then go to Stewmac for parts on my build afer this one.

I'll have the next week off- should be getting lots done!

Alright long time no new updates on this on really...

I'm done with this prototype I think- I'm gonna move onto a real build!
I think I'm gonna stick with a Pine body (light and easy to work with and surprisingly deep sounding!)
