I've been using a Ashdown MAG 2-10 Since I started playing bass and it's never let me down. They're built like tanks (All I've ever managed to do is crack the plastic corner covers a lil, and blow a fuse once) and put out sound that will rattle most venues (using everything from an acoustic bass to my Thunderbird). I've heard/seen a few bands use the ABM and they've all sounded fantastic, and should the opportunity ever arise for me to upgrade to that I would, just for the added umph from the tube.

I'm gonna make a semi-uninformed guess that a standard non-form-fitting bass case is going to have way to much play to fit the longhorn. It will more than likely go inside, but it'll move all over the place.

I've been holding out to buy myself an official case, but still haven't yet. I just carry mine in a padded guitar gig-bag which fits it perfectly.

The eBay link that Denis posted is the most consistent place I've found Longhorn cases.
Occasionally you see one of the official ones pop up on eBay, but they generally sell for more than the Longhorn itself costs as they are becoming more rare.
I have often wondered if the Dano longhorn would fit in the Hondo Longhorn case.

Someone sent me the inside dimensions of an original Danelectro case, I'll try to post them tomorrow.

I'm very jealous. I'm such a sucker for short-scales and this hybrid caught my attention from the moment I first saw it.

I love that amp also my good Doctor. It is the amp I like to use whenever I'm at a shop playing something new; it has such a great sound and can be as versatile as you need. One day I'll have to actually own one.
The Gretsch is nice as well.

Here's what I use. Well, minus that Envelope filter pedal; I just don't have a lot of luck with pedals sounding good to me.

I can't say how it would work out in the gigging world, but I just did some recording a few weekends ago. In addition to the DI bass signal, we recorded another signal through a Benson L-60 115 Combo. I'd never heard of the amp before, but it had an amazingly sweet tone. The producer used the amp for the guitars and my bass and it really did a great job with both. It was a great 2 channel amp in general with a built in fuzz, tremolo, & reverb. Basically everything you could want on-board.

I started doing some searching to see if I could find a case that could put the 2 electrics we use as a band and my bass inside one fairly sturdy case that could double as a stand as well.
So far I've found 2 cases, that are both discontinued.

A Fender case that's manufactured by Dixon that's all aircraft grade aluminum. Ultra pricey ($629).

And a Coffin Case, wooden and doesn't look as sturdy. But is cheaper than I can buy the parts to make one ($180).

I'm still looking to see if I can find one come across eBay, but I thought I'd send this over to you guys and see if you'd seen or use anything like these?

I've had the same problem locating short-scale strings local as everyone else. Usually, each shop might have 1 set. When my Dano Longhorn was my primary bass, I'd just buy or order 2 sets to keep myself for a bit should I get a break.

I've used D'Addario EXL and at some point I think I tried DR Strings, and Thomastik Roundwound.
I didn't notice a lot of difference between them other than the strings with a lot of cloth wrapping around the ends and top had trouble fitting into the bridge and tuners. They looked a little more snazzy but they were a pain to load.

I've mainly stuck with the D'Addario because of the cheaper price. Though I too would be interested to try the Rotosound Trubass just to see how they sound.

I'll plug the store/venue. Grimey's is a pretty great music and record store. They have a rather large and wide selection, and are known for their in-store performances.
And The Basement (The downstairs venue) is a pretty great little place as well.

My only beef with Epiphone on their bass/guitar designs is their obsession with flamed maple tops. I don't have anything against this for a top, but it is on a lot of their 'special edition' instruments; presumably in an attempt to make them seem more custom or high end (rather than just a standard paint job). I just think it might not hurt to go out on a limb and try some colors, or just a sunburst every now and then.

Oh wow!! I didn't notice till the end that it was reflective Chromy!! 

A guy in a local band did something similar to his black guitar, not racing stripes, but just big stripes with Tinfoil somehow. It looks smashing.

Very nice!! I think the thicker stripe works great on basses because of the bigger body and neck.

So after listening to your helpful advice, and a lot of helpful ideas they were, and finding the right size stripes (Which turned out to be 2 sets); I finally put stripes on my bird. I put them on... I guess a few months ago, But I never really got any good pics of it till now.

Also, thanks again for the ideas. I'm really considering selling that pinstripe binding idea to our guitarist for his tele.
