Gibson Basses / Re: Watt's new "Dan" bass

I'm thinking: Fralin/RS Guitarworks pups - made to sound like a 60's T bird, but in a stock humbucker shape for some reason, look the same and Watt is on record as loving those old bird pups

Probably the first Gibson electric bass, but there were mando-basses that pre-dated this by several decades

Wow, a daring dailight raid...Are they all finished and outfitted to the same spec? Any "bare-bones models?

Once tried the wooden version (original, made in uk, not the ampeg re-issue) with the sliding pickup. I thought it was outstanding, very much like a smoother sounding EB3

1 1/2 hour wait in NYC - even the mayor stood on line. People seemed happy to wait; well worth it for the chance to help make a change

Very cool bass, Dr B. Thanks to the input from everyone, I'm going to give the RS?Fralin a shot. This is for a basket case NR acquired from a Bass Outpost member, going to be rebuilt by Krishna at Boston Guitar Repair - I'll post pics as I get them. Thanks for the help, guys

GOT - thanks for that! It sounds like these may be the best choice for me, especially since the repro covers (to be filled with Duncan guts) aren't available at the moment. I don't suppose you've tried the Bartolinis?
