Quote from: Alanko on March 17, 2025, 04:00:06 PMCompletely hollow. The bridge sits on a fatter section of the top, but there doesn't appear to be any solid areas. I pulled the neck pickup out earlier, and the inside face of the rear is routed in very precise stair step increments.

Oddly the pickup covers and chassis aren't grounded, and there is no shielding or shielded wires in the bass, so it is a little noisy. Surgery time!

Than that is one excellent glue and finish job!!  NICE!

Wow, is that just chambered, or actually a hollowbody? I see the F-hole on the E side, but that must be a beautiful glue job if it's a hollowbody.

I really dig that Abracadabra tune. Very creative.

Quote from: Dave W on March 13, 2025, 10:35:05 PMThe most colossally stupid move of all is to start your term by deliberately attacking and alienating your allies.

Absolutely! There is no possible benefit to doing that.

Today an article in the paper mentioned that the federal student loan site was down for hours, so kids couldn't get at the FAFSA financial aid forms. Those forms aren't used just for federal aid requests, they are used for ALL financial aid at ALL higher ed institutions.  Why is the site down? Because of firings at the Dept of Ed.  So we're starting to see the internal process of government fail. It won't be long before we see a lot more of this.

I will try and desist from sharing further thoughts about this.

The thought that comes to mind for me is this:

If I owned a business with 20 people working in it, and I thought one of them was stealing money, would I fire all 20 and then decide what to do next?

Hell, no.

I'd research the situation, study the result and take action where I could do so without causing a major halt in the business process.

The current situation does not reflect businesslike behavior in ANY respect.

Quote from: Son of Dave W on March 12, 2025, 02:10:42 PMI generally completely abstain from discussing politics online whatsoever, but without going any further, this entire situation with Canada has me scratching my head.

Yep, I was reluctant to comment even as much as I did. This is the most dysfunctional situation I've ever seen for the US.

Quote from: morrow on March 12, 2025, 09:26:24 AMBut there's this question ... why would he even entertain the idea of trying to annex Canada (his excuse for using tariffs) when it's so full of Fentanyl and immigrants?

You should keep in mind that there is NO logical connection between his individual actions, and even less between his statements and the eventual actions.

Quote from: gearHed289 on February 27, 2025, 09:01:04 AMI noticed that back in the 90s. A radio station popped up in Chicago called US99. They played "modern country". It sounded like AOR "rock" with a bit of twang and maybe a fiddle or steel guitar. I also noticed that some of these folks looked like they got their wardrobes and stage sets handed down to them from the then failing hair metal bands.

Yes,  BRING BACK NUDIE SUITS!!! Them's country!!

Once again, I remember my friend who would occasionally say "The WHY question occurs to me."

I just consider most recent country as being a new type of pop music. It fits that category pretty well.

Quote from: uwe on February 22, 2025, 10:05:30 AMYes, and that happens with many trios: The chief songwriters grow tired of the format. Sting once said: "In a trio, no matter how good the people are, at the end of the day you are finding yourself painting with only three colors, that becomes confining for creating new music."

I understand where that statement comes from - when Sting started his solo career he didn't even want to play bass himself anymore, so eager was he to leave the sound of The Police behind.

There are exceptions to the rule like Rush, but they were not a single songwriter band, but a collaborative effort with an instrumental focus.

If Jimi Hendrix were alive today, I'd rule out that he would still play in a trio format.

I'm reading a bio of SRV. He preferred the trio because it gave him room to pursue his particular path. Not true for everyone, and as you mentioned, if the focus is more musical than writing, perhaps not a problem.
