I swear, Carlo, every bass you make drives me wild. I had talked to you awhile ago about making me another bass. Though, I recently lost my job. So that's gonna put a damper on my bass buyin'.. But I am curious - would this finish be an option?

What do you guys think of these? My guitarist brought these to my attention, and I gotta say I'm curious. Neck, middle, and bridge pickups available.

Thank you, Carlo!

The Outpost Cafe / Re: Motley Crue to retire

Nikki is the reason I picked up bass in 7th grade. The Live Wire video set my 13 year old mind off and led me to trading my Squier Strat for a Duff Mckagan signature bass. Best decision I ever made.

Motley puts on one heck of a show. Motley and Cheap trick are by far the two best live bands I've seen. It's a bummer knowing their retiring, but I dig the whole "We're goin' out together" attitude. Rather than having only 2 original members under the name Mötley Crüe..

I'd like to hear a lot more of the first album on this Final Tour. Take Me To The Top, On With The Show, etc.

Man, I'd love too see 'em play The entire 1st album live. Or at least Mandocello.

Gibson Basses / Re: Why Sixx went to Schecter....

"It had good reviews in the German Gitarre & Bass mag, but they said too that there wasn't much T-Bird tone to  it. But then I don't think that Nikki ever played his Birds for the tone, he obviously liked the Overend Watts look of them. That is not to say that he doesn't care about his tone - his bass tone with Mötley is never anything less than mighty live -, but that he doesn't shun away from a nice P-Bass snap & growl either, IIRC he has a P-Bass too which he dearly loves and doesn't smash up."

Yes, I never understood the big hoopla over Nikki Sixx's bass tone. I really dig it. I've seen them live 5 times and each time it really stands out. Especially on certain songs. 'Primal Scream', 'Afraid', 'Louder Than Hell'. Although the Schecter in a live setting didn't sound as mean as his Thunderbirds. Although I do have a Tbird bias...

While watching the road crew set Mötley's show up, I noticed all of his Schecter Sixx Basses are kept in Gibson Thunderbird/Blackbird Hardshell cases. Wonder if the interior had to be modified...

I got the chance to play this bass at Sam Ash. Looks a lot better in person. Although, it's not Thunderbird pretty. And sure doesn't sound like a 'Bird either. Sounds just like his Spector bass tone. Plugged into a small Ampeg combo it and it was easy to achieve his 'Girls, Girls, Girls' tone. The bass felt like his Epi Blackbird Model. And the neck was much larger than a Thunderbird. Very P bass-ish.

If it had an actual Thunderbird shape, I'd be all over it.

Overall a very nice bass, but it looks like a cartoon-ish Thunderbird IMO.

Those two look beautiful side by side. Had the pleasure of playing both models at Sam Ash 3 days ago. As well as the new Grabber, Gibson EB, and a 60's EBO. All great basses indeed. If only I had some spare cash...

White 60's 'Bird is my dream bass. That and the Hiwatt rig look made for eachother. Must growl like no other..

'Irregardless' drives me up the wall. And the little to no use of hyphens.

Thanks guys. There's just something about a Thunderbird and chrome. And with my generation sort of being the EMG generation 'birds alone are pretty rare. Even non musicians compliment my Thunderbirds for their 'Old School' look.

I'd really like to get one of the new Jackson JS2 Kellybirds and replace the stock pickups with beautiful chrome. I think it'd look neat.

These basses are fantastic! My buddy, a guitarist, tried my Classic Pro a couple days ago and refused to believe it's an Epiphone. "It's too well made to be an Epiphone." he argued.
