The Outpost Cafe / Re: RIP Butch Trucks

Why is is that always Southern Rock bands like the Allmans or Lynyrd Skynyrd are ridden with tragedy in their ranks?

Given his long tenure with the Allman Brothers up until comparatively recently (2014 - their official split), I'm surprised about his financial difficulties.

It's not exclusive to just Southern bands, but those two are highly recognized.  We've lost Ronnie Montrose and Keith Emerson under their own personal struggles.  Musicians aren't necessarily the best managers of money, and potentially worse when there's a lot of it flowing in/out.

That was a quickie! It's just some checked tape that I carefully lined up on it.

Always going for the quickie...   :o

RIP.  And so we begin another year of watching our musical idols pass on.  I was a huge Mott the Hoople fan, following them all the way through Mott and then The British Lions.
Mott the Hoople was one of the best concerts I ever saw, although one of the shortest.  That band, to me, was a prime example of the collective being far greater than the individuals.

My love of the Thunderbird came by way of Martin Turner, who got his Thunderbird from Overend Watts.

And mom, Debbie Reynolds, follows her the next day.  RIP to one of the movie icons.

I think that's Spedding's Pontiac in those video clips.  There was an old interview with in Rolling Stone, and a picture of him with it.  As I recall, his accountant said something to the effect that he might have it paid off in a decade.  Spedding did so much studio work back then, I think he was on 8 of the 10 top 10 singles at one time or another.

HOLY CRAP!

I love these guys!  Seriously, I had two copies of First Water, and it's where I really got into Chris Spedding, along with Andy Fraser.

The first Soundstage show I ever saw in high school was Leon Russell.  I've enjoyed his work ever since, even if I haven't followed him through the years.  The Shelter People was an album I played over and over.

Fitting for here... my ex-wife used to try and force my then 17 y.o. daughter to carry condoms.  My daughter had no interest in sex and made it clear.  Her mother's response was always something on the lines of a "magic man" and "it ain't lined with gold".  Apparently, my ex was wrong... ???

Lemmy had been a diabetic for the longest time. And didn't really adjust his life style to it.

Dancing with the devil in the pale moonlight.  We are all free to live our lives as we choose, but there are usually prices to pay for doing so.
