They must have just updated it - they didn't even have a date of death earlier.

Sad news.  I absolutely wore out The Hoople record when I was a kid.

RIP.  And so we begin another year of watching our musical idols pass on.  I was a huge Mott the Hoople fan, following them all the way through Mott and then The British Lions.
Mott the Hoople was one of the best concerts I ever saw, although one of the shortest.  That band, to me, was a prime example of the collective being far greater than the individuals.

My love of the Thunderbird came by way of Martin Turner, who got his Thunderbird from Overend Watts.

Ouch.  Over-knee-boots on men will never be the same again.

I have strong doubts whether 2017 will be any better than 2016 as regards permanent absences of our heroes of adolescence.  :-\

Same here.

Sad news indeed.

Overend and Arthur Kane were the main inspiration for me to ever pick up a Thunderbird bass.  RIP.

Same taste for boots too! Along with Michael Schenker.

Very sad news indeed. I wore out copy after copy of Mott The Hoople Live, still one of my favorite records.

RIP Overend.

The big boots and seemingly enormous Thunderbird were a huge influence on me - Thank you!

A belated Ridgemont High tribute, no doubt.

That was a quickie! It's just some checked tape that I carefully lined up on it.
