Hey yall! I don't know a thing about Gibson basses, but thought this looks cool, and thought someone here may find interest!

Dude, that green G&L has balls the size of church bells! It sounded awesome last night!

Thanks man! And thanks for coming out last night, too.  Always good to see you- and have fun with that longhorn!

I've owned several G&L basses over the years.  One of my favorites was this one.

I had the same bass, but with red sparkle finish! I thought it was horrible/wonderful!

LOL!  Welcome aboard.  NOW I know who you are!  How's the rat bastard L-1000 doing with you?

Thanks ya'll!  Doing great, though I may be letting it go soon. I have a friend who is coveting it pretty hard, and I'm low on space.  Plus I have 2 L-1000s and he turns over equipment, so I can always find something to trade.  Any advice on good Gibson's to check out?  And what is yours posted in the never let go of thread? Reminds me of those old Wilshire electric, which I've always found super attractive.

Here's what will fit on the guest room bed. I need to clear out the practice space and get them all in 1 place for a family photo sometime!
L-5500, Roscoe LG-2000, SB-1, Hoppus P, L-2000, longhorn RI, L-1000, 2 Hallmark sweptwings

Oh hell, those currently at my house. The SB-1, 81 L1000 and L-2000, and an L-5500.

FINE! I won't include pics, but I own MANY G&Ls, and don't think any of them are "living room/lounge refined." All of mine are relatively battle scarred though.  To me I can't get away from the MFD pick ups or those old G&L necks.

Also must say I've never owned any Gibson bass, but I'm looking at them now, mostly thanks to this site.  I come from a guitar background, and couldn't ever find a happy place with Gibsons playing-wise. Always loved the looks, just something about my hands made them sound horrid.  Maybe I'll end up with a room full of those next!

Nah, its a deep red, no pick guard. I'm worthless with technology, or I'd post a pic.  Anything else you want to check out?

I just picked up one of the first run dano longhorn reissues this week. Its really good, thumps like crazy.  If you'll be at our show in Raleigh Denis, I'll bring it along.

Definitely no JJ though, I sometimes miss the one I sold (back) to Chris...

Thanks for the kind words ya'll! Those guitars are both Hallmarks actually. The red one is a stradette and the gold with a white pickguard is a sweptwing.  I've got 2 of the sweptwing basses, which are pretty cool.  Tiny little neck and crazy neckdive, but really punchy, especially for a shortscale.  I hadn't played them in a while, but have recently broken them back out, mostly thanks to the hot girl in Man or Astroman? playing her swept wings...

I want one super bad again.  Just about bit on a Climax not long ago, too. And I'm loving the shorties again currently. I'm not very good at thinning the herd...

Thanks yall! Nah, the avatar pic is one of my L-1000s.  The SB-1 is actually red. You can see it in my band's newish video. I don't know if this will link or not, because I'm a luddite, but here's a try!  We made the video about a year and a half after making the record, and I've changed the way I play the song, so please excuse my un-synced right hand.  The recording was on the L-2000 that was stolen along with Denis' Jerry Jones, but was recovered.
