Lovely & talented young lady. :D
Hot DAMN!
Always loved that song and this is another good version (Joss puts her heart and other body organs into it no doubt, but doesn't oversing), but let's be gentlemanly here and not forget some meanwhile more mature girls too:

As a general matter: No one, absolutely no one can ruin Dusty Springfield's songs. I even like this here ... :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

Nice loud bass in the mix too, way to go Woody!!!
Even young Annie had a nice go at it! Later in her career, and she had one, someone must have told her: "Annie, whatever you do on stage, don't attempt to dance!" And she didn't anymore and then became famous.

Hmm, Woody on bass?? IIRC the original bassist was Alan, brother of the drummer Derek, but he was chucked out as being too old (at 25!) The new guy, who was on 2nd guitar on that vid was Ian someone or other, famous for being in a teeny band who had a hit with a Cream cover. ie. the song was by Cream, not the cover was the colour cream, but you knew what I meant?? I hated them all anyway, cos the took Slade's crown off them.
Last year while on hol on the Scottish Inner Hebrides island of Islay we were a week too early for a folk gig by Eric Stewart (he of the modded Strat in the vid) who is now solo, playing violin & flute!!!
As if I didn't know Rosetta Stone!!! Yup, Woody was on rhythm guitar before they did a McCartney with him (this is where parallels between BCR and that other band with a "B" end though!).

Alan Longmuir, the original bass player was my favorite Roller, and unlike his brother (Derek, on drums) he kept his hands off children too.

I saw him around a couple of times when I lived in Edinburgh, yopu wouldn't have known it was him if you hadn't seen his face in the papers; post-BCR he was a nurses assistant in an Edinburgh hospital. When his case first came up he was massively supported by the nurses union, but it fell away sharpish when the truth started to come out.
Goes to show that you didn't earn riches with a band like BCR treading the mill in the Matin/Coulter hit factory, tennybopper fame or not.
It was en vogue to pound BCR in the seventies. I never wore tartan, but I listened to some of their music (and still do) along with The Sweet and Status Quo (both viewed as "anti-BCR-bands" in Germany), I think BCR progressed from cheesy stuff like Bye-Bye Baby to some reasonable pop music in their late and latest days. Eric Faulkner, who allegedly had a heavy blues rock background, wasn't an incompetent guitarist when they let him. And to their credit, The Bruddahs from New York cited "S-A-TUR-DAY-Night!" as the inspiration to their own iconic "Ey-Oh-Let's Go!". BCR-Bop so to say.

Course it was, see? I got his name wrong, it proves I didn't take any interest in them ......... ahem!!

Ach ja!
Ganz besser, Herr Moderator :)
This was a singer I used to like... she's gone now 16 years... I have the vinyl but not much of anything has appeared elsewhere... associated with Black Oak Arkansas (still have my "Heaven On Earth" title deed ), which was usually was enough to send people screaming for the hills...

Some things work for me and probably not for others; this lady's voice is just so perfect, imho...

How did we get from the deplorable event of Ter's public retreat from active sex (Just say: "Naw, I'd like to listen to Joss Stone instead! And a bit of Led Zep if you let me.") to Dolly Parton and then to Patti Smith?
This forum never ceases to confound ...
(Zeppelin is for Christmas, not for life...) ;D
I actually bought a BCR single once. NO REALLY! I bought Money Honey. Catchy R&R tune. I loved the gravel in the vocals and it was played with a great down and dirty attitude. Couldn't bring myself to buy tartan for my jeans though.
I was of course ridiculed by my Deep Purple/Led Zep enamoured musical colleagues at the time but I still like to listen to this song even now.
In a way, they were less fabricated than others. Shortly before their total commercial demise (their audience had outgrown them and they were not punk either), they were a decent pop band with some Northern Soul grit. They worked on their harmony vocals, always their strength.

Okay, I've remained silent long enough... (
get up off the floor... that is
not a funny comment...)
You... people... You have no idea... what it was like... to live through that period... in the same house as a person that was a "Rollers" fan... tartan... the works...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWLBljvEG-M&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NV4xo_rF-oo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPV4goh0Ajg&feature=related

I'm speechless.
i prefer the dusty springfield version. why wouldn't i. the less bombastic production and dusty's voice made the song even more alluring to a fumbling teenage me. :-[

I also prefer the Dusty Springfield version, but the Joss Stone version is impressive.
Well I'd rather listen to Dusty, but I don't mind watching Joss.
Same here. Joss' wardrobe is impressive.
I really liked Dusty's voice but I never could understand why so many guys thought she was hot.
Tina's version is hottest, but I lik'em all.

Highly dubious typo... ;)

I even liked when Pet Shop Boys used here on that song. Couldn't say I was a fan of her later look with the perm and all.....She was taken too soon though.
To me, there was something very mannish about Dusty. Not in that photo, but in many others and when she performed on tv.
I hear ya Dave. That photo was dated 1964 BTW.
