Other Bass Brands / Danelectro Longhorn wiring
« on: December 30, 2010, 03:58:41 AM »
Hey all!

I am looking for the correct way a Danelectro Longhorn bass was wired up from the factory. As I understand it was wired as a humbucker (both coils in series) when both were on......

Right now I tried several things but I can't cope or find anything on this....... anyone here has an idea?

Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / Danelectro knobs :(

Hey all!

I thought I post one message here as well as I have a REALLY hard time getting some genuine Danelectro stacked knobs for my vintage Longhorn. I ordered them at an AllParts nearby and they are in waiting for 4 months now. Also checked Danguitars but they are also out of em.

I emails Danguitars and they state that there is a serious lack of em; they are being made again but they can't give any date.

So, anyone here knows some Danelectro stacked knobs for my Longhorn? I most prefer black bottom, creme top.

Bill's Shop: Projects, Mods & Repairs / Piezo for a hollowbody
« on: August 15, 2008, 02:49:45 AM »
As I really like the sound of my new EKO acoustically I wanted to try to add a Piezo element to it to capture that "sound". My current experience with piezo elements are:
- In bridges; not an option as my bass has a roller bridge
- as small elements placed somewhere

The latter one I tried several times on other basses...... with an OK result. OK, the sound is very very faint and tinny but with a good preamp (piezo high impedance preamp) the sound is bearable. I think I'll go with this latter option. Then the question comes to mind: are there any differences between models? For example, I can buy cheaply those Piezo trigger around the corner. Is there a big difference between these triggers when compared to for example Barcus and Berry models (I know em from their piezo preamps which are quite easy to build :D).

Help! My EKO Barracuda bass is awesome but the bridge pickup is dead. I tried several ways to check if it is the pickup or something else but it is the pickup for sure!

So, anyone recognises this pickup or has one they can offer me?
Thanks!

I got to this page by some friends on another bass forum and just have to show my new bass...... she is so nice, open and good sounding.

The EKO Barracuda

Hollowbody bass, Gibson ES type of body, bolt on neck. A tad neck heavy but still good playable standing up. 2 pickups, pickup selector switch, 2x tone, 2x volume controls (500k log for volume, 250k lin for tone; 100n for neck, 47n for bridge pickup). Frequency compensated tailpiece, roller bridge and strung with flatwounds. WOW

The sound is awesome....... although the bridge pickup is dead :(. One minor defect was the HUGE action; added a small piece of wood in the neck pocket to raise the neck a bit.
