The Outpost Cafe / Re: Good Ol' Classic Blues Songs

The bass playing on this Ten years after song caught my ear. It's got to be a Gibson bass, right?

Fat Old Sun has some great bass playing over the guitar solo. I'm thinking David was playing bass for himself on that one. It's a shame Rick checked out early, he was killing it with the eastern scale tinged keyboard playing in the Syd Barrett days and his song "Stay" is one of my favorites. Post Wall, I kind of loose interest. Learning to fly is a classic Stoney track though.

It looks sweet and sounds even better! I have a blue one and it never lets me down. They may have sold for less in the past but that bass is worth more than it's cost in my view. Plus, it's unlikely we will see another bass from Gibson with those pickups and 24 frets anytime in the near future or ever again.

I've been barking up that tree for a while now. Maybe start a facebook page called We demand Gibson Vintage Original Specification basses. If enough of the kiddies give it a thumbs up that would be a good show of public interest.

RIP Jack. We all owe a huge debt of gratitude to his musical legacy. Rock and Roll wouldn't have been the same without him.

Some of the more handy guys out there may say give her a shot, but Billy Gibbons expresses my thoughts succinctly.

Good stuff. I never made it out that far into Wales on my last visit since I pretty much headed out for Scotland straight out from Cardiff. Unfortunately I'm not sure I'll have any opportunity to revisit since it seems the centuries old farm may be up for sale and my cousin's family could be headed back to the States. Shame you didn't get to meet more Welshmen, maybe the Wurzels were hiding with the red squirrels.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: Gene Simmons: Rock Is Finally Dead

How can rock be dead when Definition of Madmen just came out with a new album and the Nasty Habits, Knight Patrol and the Eggmen are still touring?
Rock's not dead. If it's lasted this long, it's got proven legs. If Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, Gretsch, Peavey, Dean, Ibanez, G&L, Carvin, Yamaha and the cornucopia of other guitar manufacturers can still have a reason to stay in business making electric guitars, then rock isn't dead.

You know, Johnnie Walker red ain't so bad on the rocks. Apparently Churchill used to drink it.  I think RVZ might be trying to say moderation is key here. Either way, it's a damn fine funky bass line for a rock band wonderfully executed by Mr. Ed King.

What a poetically worded catalog! Now I want to taste the deep joy of musical perfection and receive real money...big money...for the pleasant, easy effort of playing a beautiful Gibson masterpiece.

I think the outcome of the referendum has put the lid on any England aspirations to have the UK leave the EU - that would provoke a secession of Scotland once again. Whitehall will be careful.

I would have thought if Scotland won independence it'd want to be independent from the EU as well. The whole thing isn't exactly coming up roses for Portugal, Italy, Ireland and Greece either right?

I was referring to this.

I could have worded things in abetter way but basically I think an independent Scotland could choose to adopt laws allowing their citizens to protect themselves and their children from a similar tragedy.

Jimmy's playing bass all over Electric Ladyland! Long hot summer night, Gypsy eyes, Watchtower all good stuff. Here's some bass lines he layed down with Curtis Knight.
