Thanks, I really appreciate it. Just checked and my design has moved into second place. With there only being today and tomorrow left, I am trying to get this out to as many people as I can. Which reminds me, if you get a chance tomorrow, could you vote again? Thanks again!

Hello everyone, I just have a quick request form those of you that have Facebook. IMAX is having a contest to design a Tron: Legacy inspired light cycle. I crafted a basic design for a Chopper variation in Autodesk Maya and submitted it so it is now in the voting phase. Could you guys go and vote for it? There is a limit of one vote per day and the voting period runs from today until Thursday(Dec. 23). My design can be found here. Thanks in advance, I would greatly appreciate the votes.

I caught Tron Legacy this morning in IMAX. That movie had the theater shaking at times. A majority of the visual effects looked great with the exception being Clu. The CGI was probably a bit too extensive which made it too obvious. In the end, it just didn't blend that well in a realistic manner.

They filmed 5 back to back with 4 & they're planning a 6th--making it another Trilogy!!!
Your information seems a bit off. 4 was filmed by itself and they are planning to film a 5th and 6th one together.

Here we have a great montage of films from 2010 and the editing on it is great. I must say that it reminds me of what I liked about editing and is making me think about taking it up again in my free time again.

Oh we will be. Disney has already announced that they will be premiering the first trailer on Monday. They were even having a contest through Yahoo to fly a winner and 3 guests out here to see the premiere at Downtown Disney and gain early access to the park.

Well for 2011, we have Paul, Sucker Punch, Thor, POTC On Stranger Tides, X-men: First Class, Super 8, Green Lantern, Cars 2, Transformers Dark of the Moon, Harry Potter 7 Pt. 2, Captain America, and Cowboys and Aliens to name a few that already have high chance of doing well. Out of all those, Paul and Sucker Punch are the only ones that come out before summer which is kicked off by Thor.

I saw the first showing at my local theater today at 11 AM. I was the only one in the theater to see it in 3D. It wasn't until 5 minutes left that some others came in to wait for the next showing since there is only one screening room that has it in 3D. Very enjoyable film and I couldn't help but marvel at the effects they used whether it be the hair simulation or the lighting.

Well I saw Harry Potter this week. It is the book series of my generation after all. In the end it kind of left me with no distinct feeling towards it. Didn't feel disappointed but not extremely impressed. I guess it is because it is only half of the book but it did set up for the second half pretty nicely. I must say that it did have some pretty good effects though.

I may go see Tangled in the next couple weeks. I have heard that it is a really good animated film.

I'll say that I consider the guage thing to be patently stupid but it not my body and people have rights.  But, I'm surprised that, in this sue happy climate, a college instructor would be dumb enough to rag on somebody for something like that - must of been tenured or at least buddies with the president of the college ???
My instructor just was just sure to point out that it is frowned upon and that he should reconsider. The guy is a professional artist that teaches part time at my school and full time at The Art Institute. Definitely someone that knows what he is talking about and isn't afraid to fail a student.

He did get in trouble one time at the other school that now has him watching what he says a bit. I guess one student felt she was better than everyone else and didn't do the assignment as she was supposed to and my teacher said to the class something like: "What do you get when you polish a turd? A shiny piece of turd." Students mom complained that he was calling her daughters work shit.

It comes down to the fact that he is one of the teachers at my school who takes things seriously when preparing students for the real world of design.

There is a guy in my drawing class this quarter that has gauged ears. First day of class my teacher my teacher right away starts to get on him about it and how that kind of thing is frowned upon saying he should remove them.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: My cat's life ended today

Sorry for your loss. It is always hard losing a pet and I especially know after the past few months. Having grown up owning 2 dogs and then adding a cat to the mix, I have had to go through a few animals. Just this past summer, I had my two dogs both die. One was acting rather strange as he was sleeping instead of barking for my mom to get home which he did on a nightly basis. Got him up to go out before feeding him and he literally just fell over dead at 12 years of age. Granted he was a pure beagle that weighed in at 60+lbs. After that, the second dog that was 15 just went down hill. She had already become picky about eating but she pretty much stopped. Lasted another 2 months till Labor day weekend when her body started to fail. Planned to have her put to sleep the day after Labor day but she didn't make it till 1 a.m. From what I could tell, she started having seizures which was extremely hard to see her suffer through.

I still do have my 9 year old cat that actually looks a lot like Sadie. She can be a pain which is why she is named Mischief but it is nice to still have her around. She is getting better now that I am feeding her a bit better. Heard that dry cat food wasn't good for her so I have been trying to figure out how much is enough combining a pack of wet food with some dry food to keep her a correct weight. And she does seem to enjoy being the only pet now seeing as she can claim my mother's bed as her pace to sleep.

I saw an article earlier today that has some similarity to this. It was about obesity in children and how those that are overweight have a tendency to eat healthier than children that are the correct weight. Simply put, the overweight children are eating healthier but they are still eating too much and not burning off enough calories.

The Outpost Cafe / Re: Walking Dead

We're going to watch it, but my wife has stated that zombies are basically boring.  Now, 30 Days of Night was a real horror film!
I find it funny that you say that because that is pretty much what my drawing teacher said. He is a traditional artist and will occasionally go to the comic book store up the street every now and then. He went over summer and the guy there told him that he really needed to check out the first issue of The Walking Dead. My teacher was hesitant specifically because he is tired of the whole zombie thing. He thought the first issue was all right and the guy at the comic book store said something along the lines of "no, you just didn't have enough time to get to know the characters." So my teacher got issue 2 and was completely blown away and had his aid take both issues back to exchange for the first book.

To add to that, he mentioned 30 Days of Night at the same time. He saw the comic books before the rights to a movie were sold, thought it was brilliant and was kicking himself for not coming up with the idea.
