Nothing has been deleted from this thread. Nofi's comment is still there near the end of the Damn Sam Ash thread.

Now that I've had this bass a few weeks I have to say I like more and more as the days go by. The pickups are awesome and the bass truly sounds different than any other bass I own. Truthfully, I like the pickups better than those in the NR T-bird although they are totally different.

Honestly, I'm surprised very little has been said about it. Uwe mentioned somewhere he considered the G-3 to be Gibson's secret weapon back in the day and if those old ones sound ANYTHING like the new one, I'd believe it. 100% underrated.

I'm happy to read your opinion of it Denis, I feel the same way. It's just a great sounding/playing bass, especially fingerstyle. Too bad the larger bass buying audience will never even know.

That fat Ripper look turns many people off I guess and elegant it sure ain't, but at least idiosyncratic. The old G-3s were thus that even a Stingray player would have been happy with them. And they came out at a time when the Stingray became successful, but got lost by the wayside. In fairness, when the Stingray came out I thought it looked cooler than any Ripper shape bass too.

I weighed the G-3 this morning. It came in at 10lbs, a hair over a pound more then my new NR. The G-3 hangs well, though.
