Amen. And it's easy to bash him, which is done all over this thread already. I posted the vid because I wanted to show the bass.

I know that's why, and it's certainly your right. But I won't give him a minute of my time, even with the sound off. I won't help him monetize his YT channel.

I think we should invite him over here so he can contribute. (ducking ...)

Does he write as much as he talks?  ;D

I'm sensing that some of you don't like it.

$2300 and you get that cheapo matte finish where you can see the pores of the wood. No thanks. I like shiny things!

Now don't get all defensive about it, Ilan! Be a man and dismiss our opinions.

Amen. I don't like the trend toward matte finishes in the past few years, and especially the open pore types.

I don't think so.  Several people have said they didn't like it.  Also, needless to say, if more people liked it, Gibson wouldn't be discontinuing it.  I like it, but I tend to be an outlier in many things, including this, obviously.

It was a great guitar as is for $599.00 but for over a grand, I would prefer gloss finish…………

The DC Jr. cost less than half of that 'bird.  ;)  I think the Jr. is a bass with some very good bang for the buck.

We'll probably be seeing some of these mod collection basses at ridiculous flipper prices sitting on eBay, etc. for eternity at some point down the road.

But I'm with you, Ilan, don't despair! I like its sound, yet neither the LP Junior doublecut shape nor short scale basses in principle do much for me, I like long necks as a visual statement, I guess if you dig deep enough I'm a "size matters" guy.  But it's a coherent design and sound is more important than looks.

I also don't mind the open pore matte look (it can look good), but it's no doubt a more recent fashion fin (also pushed for economic reasons) and combining that with the original TBird egg slicer bridge and amber knobs doesn't do it for me at all. With a fin like that, that bass should have had the most modern hardware available.

An old friend had an original double cut Jr guitar. At some point the horns had been cut off so it would look like a Vox teardrop. Later some very accurate mahogany horns were glued back on , and the guitar was once again refinished. Oddly enough the refin looked very similar to the finish on the Jr reissues. That poor thing had been to hell and back , but it had an incredible feel , and the P90 in it just killed. It was just an incredible little thing!
So when the Jr was released it brought back memories of that little beat up guitar…

I don't remember seeing this one, but it's for sale on TB. I don't know what's "mod" about it. The matte black finish??? The seller put the Hipshot on there.

And managed to scratch the paint around the bridge when he installed it.
