Guitars Etc. / $5 60's Harmony with Mahogany body
« on: June 11, 2010, 05:38:48 AM »
I found this at a local yard sale, they were asking $10 I got it for $5  :) I bought  it to sell on ebay but I took it home and strung her up and WOW what a fantastic sounding guitar, I was floored ! The body is all solid mahogany not ply. Man this thing just sings, lots of mids with shimmering overtones. Almost sounds like a autoharp or a zyther. I had been looking for a guitar for quite some time and was prepared to spend a fair amount of $ for one but I think I have found my guitar. For a Harmony it plays pretty good, has the steel reinforced neck, no adjustment on the truss rod   I need to shave the bridge down a little on the treble side. Her she is, she has place of pride by my dresser.

Fender Basses / '74 P body in walnut
« on: April 30, 2010, 04:47:54 AM »
I just got this off the bay, $549 was the opening bid and that's what I got it for. I think its a pretty good deal considering the condition. When this color came out I didn't like it much but it has grow on me over the years. I am going to swap the body on my '70s fretless that has a Fender neck but suspect body. What is the right color guard for this ? White or black ? This is where it is headed

Bass Amps & Effects / Me with a pedal board ?????
« on: April 24, 2010, 06:08:57 AM »
I am not much of a pedal guy but I do run two, a soviet EH Big Muff and a Seymour Duncan Pick Up Booster. I built a small pedal board with locks for the cables so I don't pull them out at shows. Well this has all changed ! I added a Whirlwind Compressor (same as first generation MXR Dyna Comp) http://www.whirlwindusa.com/ (My Brother in law Michael owns this Co.) and a EH POG octave pedal. So I have out grown my home built board so I splurged and bought a real pedal board case. I really love the POG It will produce a octave below or above the root note, it tracks great. It will mimic a 12ver perfectly and It works great to fill out some solo passages. I will post a pic early next week the case is at the studio. I can't believe after all these years I have a real pedal board lol.

Other Bass Brands / '76 Ibanez Destroyer New PG
« on: April 19, 2010, 12:55:30 PM »
After seeing  Flateric's Destroyer with the original pg  I knew I had to make a new w/b/w one for my  Destroyer. I had a black guard made for it around '85 and it has been that way ever since. I made and installed the new w/b/w guard today, I am real happy with the results ! First picture is from back in '76 the bass is almost stock, note the Dimarzio P pickup. with the black guardand with the new w/b/w

Gibson Basses / Non Reverse Thunderbird pickguard detail
« on: April 13, 2010, 01:06:03 PM »
I thought you guys might be interested in a side by side comparison of the pick guard neck area. I always thought the neck area was pretty sloppy on the originals and without really changing it I tried to clean it up a bit on my guards. I have three pictures to post. First a original '67 PG, then one of mine and lastly one made for Mark by Chandler. The Chandler guard is .090 while the '67 and mine are .060 in thickness. The original '67My repro and Chandlers
