I understand his appeal, but even at a young age he always came across as plastic to me. My opinion of the man was cemented by his 'cameo' in "Bowling for Columbine," a movie I'm not too fond of anyway. Seeing how he responded to Micheal Moore's questioning of his business practices in Detroit sealed the deal. I don't expect the rich to subsidize the poor, but raking in huge profits from the work of people to whom you pay starvation wages is reprehensible. There used to be a saying among responsible employers that modern business management discarded: an honest day's pay for an honest day's work. Dick Clark clearly did not subscribe to that notion, and for that, regardless of his role in promoting music, I have no respect for him.
