I saw that 2nd one, but wasn't sure if it was a Gibson or Epi. He seems to like a wide variety of basses.

Gibson Basses / Is this a Kalamazoo bass?

Is this a Kalamazoo bass in this video? At first I thougt it was one of those old short scale Fenders with an added Mudbucker, but then I realized it might be an old Kalamazoo.

I still like this band a lot. Uwe posted a link to them way back at one of the Pit's and I went and bought some of their stuff. Plus the bass player plays an Gibson RD copy that looks pretty hot IMHO.

Wow,that costs WWAAAYYY more than the Edwards models! This one is about $2300! Would a mint Gibson RD Artist even go for that?

Still, I like it a lot!! ;D

I think it looks close to the original. I always thought that the "horns" weren't quite right on the original version that Gene played. Something about them just seemed wrong to me. I think the original was an ugly brown (walnut?) finish that later was pained like this copy, and then later he had studs added to the front of it.

He did the same thing with the studs on his custom Spector that he used around the Love Gun era. I thought that the Spector bass looked cool as Hell until he put the studs on it.

Gibson Basses / Grabber article in Bass Player
« on: February 13, 2008, 09:53:53 PM »
Saw this article listed in an email from Bass Player magazine.

http://www.bassplayer.com/article/retro-rama-1974/jan-08/33209

This is the second Gibson to make it in the "retro-rama" section recently. Not too long ago there was a feature about the 60's Thunderbirds.

Gibson Basses / True FenderBird??
« on: February 12, 2008, 06:01:50 PM »
So would this be what you would consider a true FenderBird in the JAE tradition?

(If this is not the proper place for this post I truly appologize.)
