Gibson Basses / Re: '64 Thunderbird, (Sensitive viewers BEWARE!)

The grotesque locations of the knobs bothers me almost as much as all those pickups!

Looks to me like they did widen it a little for the extra string though. And those pups are whacky!

The same basic think happened to Rick Danko. Bad car accident in '68 or '69 left him with terrible chronic pain which led to drug addiction and alcoholism.
It cost him his life.
We could do a better job on this issue, I think.

Screenshot fodder... all sorts of interesting close-ups... there's a bunch of other material up...

The first video is really cool because it shows Glenn actually using the EBO and then later his first Thunderbird!
Thanks for posting that!

Thanks, Scott. Great tone. Shame there is no sign of those Epis in Australia. Importer going kaput.

I bet someone here could ship you one!

Glad to see you posting again, John! Sounds like things have been looking up!

Thanks, we don’t need any more Darrin Huffs who swindled $10,000 from people with his compulsive lying and stringing people along.

The nicest guys are the ones you need to look out for.

^ THIS! That post about Darrin Huff is beyond the pale! I wonder how many people paid him for a bass and died without ever getting it.

Wow, I've never seen the uncropped photo! Thanks for posting that!!!

He must not have liked the double jazz pups because the b/w photo I posted of the same bass later showed it with the original pup in place with a more complete custom pick guard in place.

Great Scott, that sounds great, Scott!

Found this one on Bob Welch's site. Your photos and this one confirm then, that this definitely was Glenn's bass.

I want it, hahaha!

Ooooh, nice pics! That would be from his Paris days, '75ish.
Big thanks for posting these!!!!

I've heard this may be at least partially urban legend. Maybe a cease and desist? Also, I believe it was to do with the offset Jazz Bass body. Funny thing is, the later non-rev is more Fender-ish than the original!

Whatever the case may be I need to get it right!

I was just going to say that, since the binding issue alone leads me away from it being a Triumph neck like those you've posted.
You're right about it being a weird bass though. I'll ask Drew if he knows anything about it.

105
That does look a lot more like it! The GC photos shows it with a heavy binding. Were Triumphs offered with a binding like that?

Thanks, guys, these are the kind of comments and improvements I was looking for!
