They should have made them 4003Ss. They are special anyway and would look way better without the binding.

They have already done a limited edition C64 in white.

The "reissue" designation is a bit misleading here. The Coro RI just shares some visual features with the old Coro's, but they are irrelevant to the sound or playability, like f-hole and headstock shape or fretboard binding and inlays. With its different construction, different pickups and hardware, it's a new model.

With the Starcaster, similarity to the 2-3 prototypes is really unimportant; not many know how those sounded or played.

4080 in Spain - EUR 5,800

That's the later model with the deeper neck pockets.

I like the solid colors better than the bursts. Olympic White could be awesome.

Same one.

I haven't noticed until you pointed it out that he has so many rare Rics on eBay. That is some impressive collection he's selling.

Here is one of the 2 original prototype Starcaster basses in action (closeups at 2:13 and 3:00)

The thing that bothers me is that it's a 2-years old bass wearing a '67 serial number. It should have been equipped with a 2011 plate. I would have asked RIC to supply a custom plate numbered 11 1967.

This is what Paul Wilczynski posted to the RRF on Apr. 2011: "here are some detailed photos of the double-bound Fireglo 4005/8 I scratchbuilt for Graham Griffiths, per his order and with permission from John Hall. Graham had sent a 4005 to me to restore, which was too far gone to do anything with (butchered body, short-scale, neck, wrong fretboard, etc.). With JH's permission, I re-used most of the hardware and wiring from the donor 4005, including the TRC and all-important jackplate with its serial number."

The tailpiece looks like a 12-string guitar part, skipping the A and B string slots.

RIC made them pull the listing. It's on their website now for the same price.

What's up with that? Is this some officially sanctioned copy?
He's working closely with RIC and was commissioned to build the acoustics for them and slap a real Rickenbacker TRC on the headstock, so he's become sort of like a RIC custom shop. He uses genuine RIC parts for his builds that I assume he gets from the factory, and the methods and materials RIC uses. So I wouldn't call it a copy, he will not build something that John Hall would not approve (or know of).

A new Paul Wilczynski-built 4005/8WB complete with potato headstock.
