I have both, I don't think they're the same pick up at all Ken. China Bucker aren't bad by any means, but they 're a little thin sounding and not as hot as the 760's in the VP. Neither are as good as a Lull Thunderbird pickup, much more going on there.
Cool.  I remember there being a lot of comparisons when the VP first came out.

I meant more that they're supposed to sound similar.

As of they are not available.
They're pretty similar to Chinabuckers, no?

Looks like you could hide a body in that bag.

Guess what?

Oh, damn.  Good thing I'm not interested in short scales.  I know I mentioned that in this thread. I was more tempting fate, and fate one-upped me.  Good thing Epiphone doesn't make a left-handed Thunderbird VP!  Think that'll work?

I think the strings are new Cobalt rounds, at least from what I've heard about what they do to your fingers.

Man, playing left-handed really saves me a lot of money.

I think it my first post back at The Dudepit……..At least the one that I came out in Drag.  Before that I was as Alice Cooper says "Such a Sweet, sweet thing"   :-*
Such a Nasty Habit.

I also got my left-handed Thunderbird under Henry's era.  Very thankful for that.

Let's blame Detroit.

I bet the old Incase Tour Bags would be great soft cases for these. I used one for my Carvin LB20, but not much else fits in it. Should be excellent for short/medium scales. If anyone in the NYC area is interested in one, I'd definitely be willing to part with mine. It's in great condition.

One of the comments: "I have always loved the look of this bass. However, when I finally owned one,(not blue), I found that I didn’t like the pickup set up and couldn’t get the action low enough on it due to the pickups being as high as they are. Still, I loved the bass when I had it and could tell it would have great tone for somebody who doesn’t mind high action bass guitars."

Maybe lower the pickups?

Could be a good time to plant a seed of thought towards a 50th anniversary bicentennial Thunderbird for 2026. Try to ask for more custom colors too. You could try asking for all kinds of things and just seeing what sticks. I could think of all kinds of stuff. New Grabbers in Grabber blue, triumph basses with bursts and flame tops and original spec reissue EBs with real mudbuckers. Any of that would be great.
I think the Grabber would have to be pink, if you want to keep up with the times.
