No, I did not order a case. Of course it would have probably benefitted the bass if I had bought a case. I wanted to but I couldn't afford it. I was worried about it too but I figured that pretty much all guitar companies ship basses and guitars without cases and they are fine so I figured it would be okay. At the end of day I'm sure it happens every once in a while. I'm sure it even happens to the major companies like Fender and Gibson too. Another reason I didn't buy a case from Bach is because I really wanted to buy an actual Gibson case because it's black and because you can get the reverse thunderbird model that is cut to fit the body and I was going to modify it to fit the Non-reverse body shape like Rob did. I don't like the cases that are just open where the body lays in the case all loose. And yes, I will keep you guys updated with the situation, Rob and I are working on it right now.

How much does the Dasson Badbird bridge sell for? I know the intonation sucks with the original Gibson bridges but how do the stock Bachbird bridges compare? Did Bach make any adjustments when designing theirs to compensate for the problems of the original Gibson bridge? Does the Dasson come with the tailpiece too?

Cool, yeah, I'm glad you did just so there is no confusion.

Yes, yes, I know he has contacted the shipper and hopefully it will all get taken care of. I don't want to give anyone the impression that I haven't already spoken with Rob or that he was not being responsive or helpful. Sorry, if anyone thought that.

Yes, I would definitely like a brand new. I just figured that I bought a brand new bass (which doesn't happen very often) so I would like a brand new bass with no issues/repairs. If I was buying something that was vintage or rare then I would consider keeping it because of the rare factor and not being able to find another one but if it's brand new and another one is available then I would definitely not settle for one that was broken. Also, as we all know, T-bird necks are extremely fragile to begin with and playing a brand new one already worries me so starting off with it cracked is not such a great idea. With my luck I will get a new one and end up breaking it on my own at some point anyway. Ha..ha.

Obviously, if there is an option to get a new one and keep the broken then of course I am all for it but I don't want to start thinking that way and get greedy about it. I would be happy with one that is in good condition. I'm not sure how that stuff works. If the shipper reimburses you when a guitar is damaged what happens to the damaged guitar? I have shipped and received a bunch of guitars over the years but I have never had this happen to me so I don't even know what happens in this situation.

It was not completely double boxed. It had two layers of cardboard on both ends though. It was padded but I feel that there could've been more support under the neck. There was support right where the nut is, where the headstock meets the neck but I feel that it would have benefitted from having support beneath the middle of the neck too.

Gibson Basses / Re: Got my new Bachbird but the headstock CRACKED!!!

Yeah, it just figures that of all the people that have ordered these basses I am the only that received one with a cracked headstock. Just my luck. I don't mind waiting for another I just hope that it won't be a huge ordeal and that Bach will be cool about it.

Cool, I will. There was no real damage to the box though so.... It's that damn t-bird neck that was designed so crappy and fragile. I really hope this is not going to be a problem, I really couldn't afford to buy this bass to begin with so I hope they don't try to charge me anymore money.

Gibson Basses / Got my new Bachbird but the headstock CRACKED!!!

So, my first Bachbird arrived at my doorstep about 25 minutes ago and I can't ell you how excited I was. The bass looks great but one major problem............ the headstock is CRACKED!!! What a huge bummer. I just e-mailed Rob about it. I really, really hope I can get this resolved with no problems. I'm a little worried with it being international shipping and the language barrier. I really don't want to have to pay for shipping again. Has this happened to anybody else? What a drag.

Gibson Basses / Re: Lollar Thunderbird pickups, anyone like them?
« on: April 21, 2010, 10:23:07 PM »
Yeah I agree that if you were to pay for a Lollar you might as well go the extra mile and just get a Lull but my friend claims he could get me a deal on the Lollar's. The Lollar is a little over $100 less before the "Deal" so if he actually can get me a discount then that might work out well especially if I am buying two. But saving money wouldn't do me much good if the pickup didn't sound the way I wanted it to which is why I was asking. I can pretty much guarantee that the Lollar's sound great but I'm just wondering if it sounds like the original 60's T-bird or if it's supposed to sound like a newer more modern T-bird pickup.

Yeah, all the Lollar pickups I have heard have been amazing which is why I was wondering about his T-bird pickups? I'm actually very surprised that no one on here has checked them out yet. Especially with all the T-bird fanatics on here and with all the Bachbird pickup mods going on on this board. I thought I was going to get more feedback from people who have tried those pickups, it seems like everyone on here has tried every other T-bird pickup out there. Getting reviews about the Lollar T-Bird pickups is hard, can't find anything on the net about them. Perhaps they are too new. I wanted to know if anyone had any luck dropping them into the NOS chrome pick ups covers, size. etc. Hmm, go figure.

I know I actually just got the last one last week. I emailed them awhile ago and they finally got back to me and said they had one left. They said that they doubt they would find anymore but that it might be possible.

What do you guys think of the Lollar Thunderbird pickups? How do they compare to the original 60's and 70's pickups? Has anyone put them in their Bachbird? If so, did they fit? I was thinking about buying some but I was wondering what people thought of them and if they fit into the NOS Gibson pickup covers that Greatdealz sell? Any thoughts or reviews would be appreciated.

Gibson Basses / Re: I more than kinda want this...
« on: April 19, 2010, 07:24:29 PM »
Yeah, I was debating on bidding on it too if it didn't get too high but the price got a little higher than I was willing to pay. I also wanted the pickups in addition to the bridge/pickup covers, the tuners and the case and I would just put the rest of it back on Ebay. At the end of they day I also didn't feel right about buying it just to part it out but if someone else bought it and parted it out and wanted to sell me any of those things I wouldn't complain.. ha..ha.
