The Last Bass Outpost

I was daydreaming about giving my frankentele bass a bit of snarl by putting a jazz pickup close the bridge, but  it occured to me that (a) i dont have a jazz pickup and (b) i have a handful of guitar pickups lying around
  there has been a few mentions of gibson using guitar pickups on basses, and I wondered if anyone had anything to say about sticking a strat single coil  on a bass?

 I toured with Def lep in 05, Vivian was by far the musical high point, not for the shows where he was expected to replicate Steve's parts and was only let off the leash on the newer stuff, but for his soundchecks. The rest of the band hardly ever soundchecked, leaving their backline guys to do a line check, but Vivian always turned up and entertained us crew with half an hour of amazing blues improv and covers  Hes a great singer also, he sometimes did a really slow version of Don't Believe a Word, even slower and bluesier than Gary Moores version, I really wish i had a recording of it

 His solo blues album is worth a listen too

 its a shame to hear about his health issues

I really can't blame them for cancelling.

me neither,  EODM lost two of their touring crew, I would hope the band were thinking of more than just their own safety.

 Tell me about it, I'm an old  punk , rebellion is in my blood,

 I guess its a sign of maturity that I can make pragmatic decisions that are the antithesis of what I feel

  the chorus/verse being the same progression is the main thing, the ability group  that i am looking for get too anxious  if they have to keep track of where they are in the song or can get lost , but if they can just keep chugging through the same progression they can really enjoy themselves

I also forgot too say needs to be parent friendly cos its to be performed at end of term show, I've already had to refuse  " Highway to Hell " for my more able students, because you never know whether a parent may be hyper religious etc.

 Knocking on Heavens door works if you swap the A minor for a Major too, my mid level group do that already

 So far I think Wild Thing is the winner, but there still might be a something better, thanks for all the ideas

sadly I don't know if there are any, there is video though which were gonna watch and critique next week so maybe a screen cap of that will be obtainable.
 
 If not my wife the photographer will be at the actual assesed performance (which takes place in a real actual nightclub !) so there'll be pics of that for you to snigger and pass comment at the old man ion stage with a bunch of kids
