Still waiting for the first snow fall to top the mountain here.

We have 78F right now
and I cut three miniature roses from my bush this morning.

JoAnn and I drove 700+ miles to Lawton OK on Thursday to help daughter move.  We drove straight south on I-25 to dodge the aftereffects of that big snowstorm that went across Colorado, Kansas and the Midwest on Wednesday.

U-Haul has a new feature - in addition to renting a trailer, you can hire movers to lug the stuff.  We did, and that was fantastic.  They loaded the entire trailer - and did it extremely well - in 75 minutes.  Saved us a LOT of carrying (from the second floor) and grunting.  Well worth almost $200.

By the time we returned towing the trailer on Saturday, the snow was past and roads clear, so we went North from OK City to Kansas on I-35, then West on I-70.  We're getting better at driving 600+ miles in one day.

Now that we're home and unloaded, it's welcome to snow.

We got a little snow on Friday, but it will probably be gone by Tuesday.   Anyway, Merry Christmas, everyone!

Not saying you have obsession issues, Al... ;D

Gonzo... it is opening my eyes to know you have any unfavourable weather in your fair islands...

Rick... I have a fair amount of (paternal) family in Mi... relatives in Livonia usually enjoy cross-country skiing...

Bill and Scott (et al) ... Jackies late (Ky) uncle told us the winter before their family reunion in '03 they had 18" of snow in one night for a first snowfall of the season...

Still wet here... lots of flooding... nasty...

I'm not alone...

Friday night I was sitting in a restaurant in Oklahoma City wearing (as usual) a hat with a Cougar logo...one of the managers came by, stopped and turned, then said "Hey, we don't get too many Cougs in here! One of my best friends is a Coug."

And on the way out of the restaurant, he gave us the traditional greeting and farewell:  "Go, Cougs!"

This happens anywhere in the world I go wearing that logo.  I think there are many pleasantly obsessed people out there. But it's simple to light the tree in appropriate colors.

Yes!  As I have been known to say, "It's colder than a witch's brass welldigger."

At least you knew what I meant! Not so sure about the younger generations though.

I hadn't heard that one and I thought I had heard most all of them. ;)

One that I'm more familiar with is "colder than a witch's tit in an iron bra"

And "cold as a well digger's ass at Christmas." Al's just combining them.

Anyway, just in time for Christmas, here's my favorite dog-in-snow video, with music from Harry Connick Jr.

Filmed in the late 1990s in Ward, Colorado

No snow in the swamp, though it was 38F in the bedroom when I woke up yesterday at 7AM.  Haven't 'turned on the heat' yet which basically involves doing a kero run and tuning the heater.  Currently a more civilized 48 in here.

I did get this from Steve (ThunderBucker) in Chiloquin, OR last week:
"(winter) showed up last night, 8 more inches forecast through tomorrow morning.
At least they raised the tuesday night forecast low from 1 to
25....gotta ski down to the shop to can up some pickups, play some
drums and guitar..."

Looking out on the chicken house and studio/shop.

According to Weather Underground there's now 48 inches on the ground.

No snow here, of course. Should be in the 50s today with rain later on. It sprinkled a little over night and when I went out to go to the radio station it smelled like snow, though it wasn't cold. I love that smell!

And the phrase is even usable in mixed company!  ;)

-15 here (Celsius) and snow, of course. Last Christmas was black which was depressing.

Here's our Christmas tree and the creature who moves under it as soon as it gets brought in. I think I won't have a heart to remove the tree very soon...
