The Outpost Cafe / Re: Pussy Painting
« on: January 20, 2011, 12:19:15 AM »
I've made most of the money I've earned doing airbrush painting.
I've got a lotta stories about it. Here's one:
Brunette with HUGE orbs comes in my shop & tries on a flesh colored little blouse with titties painted on it & skulls on the tits.
It's WAY too small on her--the little titties arem't one fourth the size of hers.
So I say, "Don't worry-I can paint skulls right on your tits!!"
She smiles & says ok so I lock up the shop & she strips naked & tells me she & her boyfriend took LSD & she lost him.
I paint the skulls on her luscious breasts & then proceed to paint a portrait of myself wearing my beret on her crotch with her pubes for a beard.
Well I didn't have a beard so I wrote Z.Z. TOP across her belly.
The guys in ZZ were wearing berets too at that time.
Voila! Body Art
Knock knock
"Oh, that's my boyfriend at the door", she says. "Let him in."
So I let him in thinking this could lead to a fight...
So as he walks in & as he passes me I say casually "Nice turquoise ring ya got there."
Might seem dumb to say but it was an awkward situation & I just wanted to say something friendly.
He goes up to his girl who's standing there stark raving NUDE & gives her a big hug & kiss.
Then he turns to me & says,"You like this ring? You can have it for painting so nice on my old lady."
Takes off the ring, hands it to me as she gets dressed & they head out the door.
The End

Checked out the hotel lobby shows last night--caught a bit of Orianthi, Chad Smith's Meatbats, Wally Reyes Jr. & Friends, an American Indian cat known as Mickey Free, & Hot For Teacher.

All were pretty mediocre but Mickey Free would be good if he'd just Shut Up & Play!

He did a good job of playing some Hendrix songs & he's got some gorgeous axes--a black Flying V hand painted Hendrix Tribute just like Jimi's, a '58 Les Paul Tigerstriped Sunburst, a Billy Bo, etc.

He wore enuf turquoise to sink a canoe! hahaaa

He must have asked "Are you with me?" 27 times. The first few times I said "YEAH!" but after 2 dozen times I was shakin' my head NO. lol

Saw a few familiar faces--but not Chris P.

The couple who run a music store in Fla. & usually get me in ain't here again this year.
That makes 2 years in a row their biz has been slow!! Tough times

"They say that when a soul has unfinished work to do a crow will accompany him back to the land of the living...."

There's a crow...tapping, tapping on my door.
Is what they say true, Mr. Crow?
Quoth the raven, "Kennemore"

I'm thinking of doing a graphic novel...a new Crow story. Yep. Starring Phil!
The first Crow flick with Brandon Lee is my fav movie!

As a cancer survivor, my heart always hurts when somebody else is diagnosed, or is taken by the disease. This time it's somebody who influenced me quite a bit during my first year playing. I remember when the guy who lived across the street from me as a kid showed me the first Yesterday & Today LP back in '76. He ran a snack route to supermarkets and had a friend who was in a position to trade promo LPs for cookies, chips or whatever. Upon listening, I was floored by the rhythm section, Meniketti's playing and the songs. The album quickly became a staple for me, and I'm not ashamed to say I ripped off alot of Phil's licks over the years - based on what I heard in those grooves. I ultimately snagged my friend's promo copy in a even up trade for Cheap Trick At Budokan, and it's still in my collection - along with a couple of sealed "backup" copies. Still have to pick up the CD somewhere.
RIP Phil - a true "Earthshaker"...

Cool that you were among the first to get FACEMELTED!
The Yesterday & Today cds are available on the Y&T site. I got mine!

Well the ol' Classic Blues thread is gettin' so much love, let's do the same thing with smmmoooooooth jazzzzzzz
Startin' off the New Year in a m-e-l-l-o-w m-o-o-d

Saw John Klemmer a lot at Jazz clubs in L.A. in the 70s

Used to have Yusef Lateef's album Gentle Giant on vinyl in the 70s

Sa-weeeeet

Just listen to this stuff!! This is music for a sunny afternoon.
John Klemmer did a Coltrane cut on one album but mostly he was m-e-l-l-o-w
That's what Smmmooooth Jazz is to me---mellow, relaxing, WONDERFUL!
In L.A. we have the WAVE--a mellow Jazz station that makes gridlock bearable.

Diggin' that Red Baron!
