Strikes me as a great example of how men in some cultures try to control women...sometimes hiding it under the guise of religion.

Dave, if that's too political, delete it - seems like fact to me, not political.

It's not necessarily a muslim thing. I believe fake hymens are an Italian creation and not unpopular in Spain and Latin America either. Regarded as nothing too different from a nose job, even if the results are less lasting, uhum.

The great American literate Dave W. - inventor of the term "doughnut bumper" for less than heterosexual women - once stated so succintly  "virginity is overrated". What can you add to that?
