Like the opening scene of the innards of the Melotron!
Yep, loved that!  Almost better than the very colorful comments Peter Gabriel said regarding Tony Banks' Mellotron the first time I saw Genesis (04/15/1973).

Still not a fan of the fat horns.

Huh?  ??? I think they are impeccably clear about it:

"The S in the model name usually indicates that this is a set neck model, rather than a neck through, however some 4001S models were built as neck-through."

This is set neck, as the name S indicates, some others, however, are neck-thru even though they are also branded as S models.
The S does not stand for set-neck, never did, never will.  His description is totally off-base.

Nope - instead of wings glued to the neck (as in the case of a Thunderbird or Alembic, and copies thereof) Ric routed a channel for the neck to sit in in the body with full solid back.  The neck also doesn't go all the way through the body to the butt end, but only most of the way.

It's real obvious from the photo of the backside of the bass that it is a set neck.

Did Jonas balance his Ric on his forehead at the end of the show? He did when I saw them this year.
Yes, he did, and then threw it off to stage left, where I assume someone caught it!

We saw Steve Hackett last night (Genesis Revisited)!  :)  They did the Spectral Mornings and Selling England by the Pound albums. Lots of use of a FG 4003 by Jonas Reingold, along with his Wal double neck (12 string guitar/4 string bass), a fretless Jazz Bass, and some PRS single-cut style guitar (don't know what it was).

Phenomenal show; the played for almost three hours.  They also performed "Dance on a Volcano", and Los Endos", along with some new songs by Steve, and he dedicated a song to his great friend, Chris Squire!   8)

This video is from a few months earlier, in Europe.

If he really wanted to make it look, and sound, more authentic, he should have moved the bridge pickup back to the bridge.  I would have done so.

The body is that of a Cii.  Note the walnut sandwich in the control cavity.

Bunny is well known in limited circles. I probably wouldn't have heard of him either if I hadn't been on Carvin's mailing list for years (all because I bought some strings from them a couple of times).
I saw Bunny with Chick Corea in the early '80s.  Tap Step tour, IIRC.

Shame that photos of a swastika have been posted, here.  What are Ilan's thoughts on this?

Sid to Roger: "Hey, duuuuuuuuude, I really want to use your Rick for this vid we're doing.  I promise not to destroy it like Pauly did his P Bass, really!"

Roger: Yeah sure, no prob.  But, if there is so much as a (new) scratch on it, you'll end up being a Dead Boy!"

Sid: Cool, man!  I love those guys!"

I think the influence for the new bridge/tailpiece may be from RIC's relationship with Schaller.  The new bridge looks very much like something Schaller could/would make for RIC.
