I've decided to make 2 semi-hollow models, one with and one without f-holes.  I decided naming the models would be a fun thing to do.  I was thinking of naming the non-f-hole model after my one of favorite basses, Hofner.  Thinking Sir Paul as well, I'm considering the following names:

* Cavern
* Liverpool
* Hamburg
* Other?

For the f-hole model, I'm not so sure.  Maybe after one of my favorite places or something to make me think of the vintage EB tone:

* Linderhof
* Vienna
* Edinburgh
* Epoch
* Classic
* Antiquity
* Other?

Merry Christmas gang!
;D ;D ;D ;D

Macca, Eleanor, Jude, Penny, Strawberry, Norwegian and Revolution immediately spring to mind.

Also, Ringo... ;)

Here's a name for a Macca-inspired bass:  The 909  (From the tune One after 909)

Good ones guys, I didn't think of any of those!

The Norwegian Wood model...and you could add an outrageous upper horn like those recently discussed!

Are you saying my bass's horn is insufficient?  😡

No, we all know that when the tool is made of good wood, size doesn't matter.

Cavern is a Höfner model name. Liverpool and Hamburg are Ric model names (current 350V63 and former 230/2030 models) and don't doubt for a minute that Ric would send you a  cease and desist letter.

How about the DocBass Why Don't We Do It In The Road model? Nah, too long.  ;D

Felix (as in Pappalardi for that classic EB tone)

Thinking of some other favorite Macca basslines...

Maybe (Hey) "Bulldog" or "Taxman"?

drbassman

Geez Dave, what a buzz kill!  I had forgotten about all of those. I would certainly avoid all of them for just the reasons you noted.

Actually 'Norwegian wood' is allready used on a series of hanmade guitars here in Norway!

Byt wether or not the woody name is protected or not, I don't know.

Thanks for the suggestions.  As for a fiver, I've never done one before, so I'd have to think about that one.

"mojo" is an overused cliche'. avoid at all costs. you want a really original name.
"life is a blur of republicans and meat"- zippy the pinhead
